I have a 22k watch bracelet I bought in India which looks like it has a lot of steel hinges on all of the links and a steel clasp, all smothered rather than plated with gold. I want to send it to these guys but I don't know if they'll be able to seperate the steel without wasting too much gold. Anyone experienced something similar?0

I am very happy indeed with the services of HGM.
I had a rough idea of the amount of cash I was expecting as they give an immediate quote based on the gold fix set at 10 30 am that morning.
I sent out my gold by special delivery yesterday and got a call this morning to say there was some minor adjustments but as the price of gold had gone up today I did not get much less than I expected.
£1.723.00 was deposited into my bank account by 11.30!
I would rather have the money in my bank than sitting in the bottom of my drawer.
I will be recommending HGM to all my family and friends.0 -

Be careful here - if it's not hall marked they will value it at 20ct. Check it first with a jewellery shop.0 -
Thanks Loopgames, but it is hallmarked "916" and I bought it in the most reputable shop in Bangalore so it should be OK... Anyway I had a brainwave and just checked it with a very strong magnet and am now sure it contains no steel. I don't think any metal other than steel would have been used and I've just left loads of bite marks all over the clasp so I'm going to post it off on Monday.0

Maybe I should have been a bit more insisting. I called them to ask and they said that they would value it at 20ct even if it was hallmarked as all jewellery made outside of europe would be given a lower value.0 -
I had suggested to my mum to use Hatton after reading posts on this site and I am pleased to say I would recommend them and if we find any more scrap gold then it will be going their way too!
We posted by special delivery on Thursday to them having weighed it ourselves to be app 54grams.
The email we received the next day at 11.33am was to confirm what there was 47g 9ct and 1g 18ct. They explained that a locket and chain was non gold. It was only then that my mum realised the locket would have been gold plated. She had called them to ask about gold plated items which they said they don't take. This was fair enough.
The price paid into the bank account on Friday was £465.50 and my mum was delighted with this amount - easy transaction and really impressed with the speed of the service and good communication from Hatton
PS. No I am not on commission and this is the 1st time that I have used these forums to get advice and will definitely be coming back again for more tips and advice in the future!0 -
I have just recived a remittance advice from Hatton Garden Metals for gold that I sent to them yesterday. I was offered £450 for this collection of old 9ct bracelets, necklaces and earrings at a jewllers in Leeds last week. Hatton Garden Metails are giving me £630. Thank you for the posts here as otherwise I probably wouldn't have had the confidence in the company to use them.0
