A firm called Lois has its own small fan club thread.
HGM have been clever enough to tell its customers:- If you like the service tell MSE.

Why not be brave enough to ask you customers to do the same ? BUT you need to start with a MSE established member or the thread will get taken down as spam.
I have to laugh at this:rotfl: We have hundreds of happy customers and many have posted on this site but each genuine post has been removed as spam
So please explain how our customers can post on MSE without their posts being removed and what you mean by "an MSE established member. After all the Public should be aware of who else is out there and genuine. Also I am not trying to hijack this post and lets be clear after some further research,I can say that HGM seem to be a bona fide concern, unlike many of their competitors so apologies are in order but they are not the only ones out there. I suggest that our company and any others out there are provided with guidance as to how to have our own comments page on MSE. Moderator please help!

Personally that's exactly how half the posts in this thread should have been treated IMO (especially as HGM were guilty of completely blatant spamming when the gold threads first started) but for some reason HGM are allowed to get away with telling every customer they have to post how great they are here without the posts being removed, they seem to have found an extremely valuable loophole in the moderators opinion/knowledge of what is or isn't spam and they are exploiting it to the max (and it's disappointing to see someone suggesting you exploit the same hole!). To me signing up on behalf of a company solely to post how great they are, never to be seen here again makes them spammers, mods disagree.

When did you use it - yesterday and Jan 2010
What did you send it - 9ct gold, 18ct gold and silver
How much did it promise you - £50
How much did it deliver - £44.83
How efficient was the service - very, parcel received by them yesterday and the money in my account at lunch
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason - included gold plated and didn't realise
Anything else other people should know - used twice now and always efficient and deliver what's promised
Natwest Card 27.06.10 (reduce every month) £267.63
    Gave up smoking 16th July 2007 :T

I can vouch for Hatton Garden Metals. Used them to send gold to after reading opinions on here - mind you I still doubted what I had done! Thinking I had done something really dumb, I was very happy to receive a chq (didn't trust enough to give out my bank acct details!) for £268!!!! for 32g of 9ct gold jewellry (sat in a draw for ten yrs) plus a bit of scrap silver jewellry. Still wary banked chq - but yep it has cleared giving me a nice bit of cash!!

Needing to raise some cash I searched around for the best deal on a small quantity of scrap gold. I was tempted by £25 Quidco cashback from Money4Gold then read the reviews on here and thought better of it! I weighed my gold on the kitchen scales at 8 grams. I got a quote of £67 from Hatton Garden Metals which having learnt how to value gold I was quite happy with. So I filled in the form and sent my gold off yesterday. Today I got an email saying that I had 11.5 grams and my cheque for £97 had been despatched :j. I would have liked to use the BACS service but I noticed that the apllication web page was NOT secure (i.e. not https:// and no padlock ). This made me nervous of putting in my bank details to it. This aside, I'm really pleased, especially with the honesty of adding payment for the 2 1/2 grams I didn't know about! It would have been very easy for them just to pay for the amount I'd quoted.
BTW: I know this is my first post but it is NOT spam! My experience with this company has moved me to contribute to the forums that I have relied upon for sometime to help make decisions about things such as this. The tales of rogues in the scrap gold business made me nervous of using them but through MSE forums I took a chance on this company and am very pleased with the result. If I don't get my cheque though, I'll be straight back on to let you know!

Absolutely I agree!! Its like NHS managers asking the patients they cure to blog for them, but not bothering to mention it to the ones that ..well...er passed on ..

Seriously I want my customers voice to be heard, how do we do that when every genuine post in favour of us, is removed

Perhaps its also the case that every negative HGM expeience is also treated as spam?!

Lets have some balance here please. we get post after post saying how hones HGM are.Well so they b****y should be. We are!!!! and can we be heard!! No!

Have you used the link on page one of this thread, The one that says

To see the feedback on other companies see the main:
    Postal Gold Sellers Feedback Thread

Sorry but it wont let me link you.!!

This would take you to the main postal gold threads for all companies - you should maybe e mail or contact jenny @ MSE and ask for your company to be added, Then your customers can let you know exactly what they think.

The reason your posts get deleted and your company name is removed is that you are posting about your company on an official HGM thread. This is the link for all customers that have use HGM to post there views, The reason you probebly dont see many negative threads here is the fact that their customers seem to be happy.

As stated in an earlier post HGM have used their system to tell all customer to post views here happy or unhappy.

After using them myself I understand why they get good posts,

ANOTHER NEW USER SPAMMING FOR HATTON GARDEN.How come you know all about how this site works when you haven't ever posted before!! You know jenny, you know how the Moderators work and your post also contains a hoorah for HGM!! What a sham!!

And my point remains....HGM encourages those customers who are happy to post on here, but the ones that arent happy are not asked to post!

Most of the posts on here seem to be spammy. ie MADE-UP They are all from new users/they all begin in the same way ie I was nervous about using etc etc They all detail the actual weight and often end in a cheer for HGM. Firstly as I said earlier MSE shouldn't be giving just one company a free advert and secondly its not rare in the trade to find honest companies. There are many of us out there being ignored. Some pay more than HGM and have been established for longer.

Now for a very important point. With HGM the Public have to identify which of their items are 9 carat and which are 18 carat. The truth is that the Public dont know which is which! yes of course some know, but may do not know. This is where HGM make their "icing-on the cake" money ....They get a lot 14/18/22 carat for the price of 9 carat... ie gold worth £13/17/21 a gram for the price of 9 carat

What should happen is that every customer before posting anything to them should ask a local jeweller to identify each piece and the customer should know exactly what they have before posting BUT I guess now we are going to have a lot of HGM spammers all telling us that HGM phoned them up to tell them that they had more 18 ct than they thought!!!

At the margin HGM work ie about 96% of bullion and given their overheads etc in order for them to make a profit they would have to rely on customer mistakes ... And believe me, 75% of customers do not know what they have!

Up to now I have known nothing about "Nelmer", but a quick click on her name reveals that she is 30 something, has kicked a nicotine habit and is working hard on reducing her debts - So I believe her posting is genuine,
The same instant analysis can be used on any established user of this forum.
Perhaps HGM situated in the London jewellery district really can make a profit out of high turnover and thin margins?

Emma has half a dozen post all complaining about HGM having established its own fan club thread.

Why not build up some brownie points of your own.
For example: I have a small gents Swiss gold watch from the 1950's that I am trying to decide whether to renovate or scrap.
I know next to nothing about watches - which parts of this watch are likely to be solid gold. Obviously the movement is not.
That leaves the back plate, the casing that also holds the lens and the winder knob. Which of these are likely to be solid gold?

Similarly I have a battered old fountain pen from the 1930's - I am fairly confident that it is beyond repair - if I drag out the 14ct gold nib, how heavy is that likely to be?
