Crickey never seen so many newbie posts in one thread!!

I actually came on this thread to say that I sent some gold off on Monday to Hatton Garden Metals and received the money in my bank account the next working day :-) I can't comment on how they compare price wise to other companies but I was certainly impressed with the speed.
  • Just used Hatton Garden Metals for the second time in a year & the process was as quick as the first time.

I got 2 quotes from the high street as a benchmark & HGM were between £20 & £40 odd more even taking into account the cost of Special Delivery postage.

Strange one for me. I entered I had 18g 9 ct gold and received a price of £187.53 then noticed on the main link to their site about the code for an extra 1% for MSE users. Typed in the code with the same weight and received a price of £186.56. How does that work???

Hi, I don't post much, but I'm not a newbie. I used HGM twice, (but I would say not for about a year), and they were very good. They paid what I expected (I weighed first).

They seemed fair and their prices are a lot higher then many places - that's all I can say.
  • HGM provide an amazing service. I rarely post and feedback apart from Ebay, so this just goes to show i will take the time to sing HGM praises galore.

I sent in 14.2Grams of 9ct Gold on Monday afternoon special delivery pre 1pm at the post office. I used my Android phone app to track the Royal Mail Tracking number every 2 hours for when it was delivered. To my surprise early Tuesday Morning (FP) Faster Payments sent into my Santander bank acount of £150.00!!!!! The Royal Mail Tracking information did not even get updated till like 1 later. The way I found out the item was delivered was the £150 already in my Santander account placed in by HGM.

Well done HGM! I just to prove this is not some kind of payed for add to all those cautious skeptics. The HGM has a company number you can verify on the Companies House web site, a VAT! number and best of all a local London Tel phone number and adrress. You can not go wrong, as Royal Mail insure up to £500.00 on basic gold, so don't go into a local gold shop and waste your time, HGM it you'll get a more than fair price. They must have all other gold buyers sweating in their pants :T

HGM 10/10 for service and honesty and keep up the good work, it's rare to see such perfect service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. Off to buy a drink now with a job well done.

Wow... speedy is not the word! :o)

After reading up on Hatton Metals through MSE, I initially took my late father's gold bracelet to a couple of local jewellers in the South East, where I live, just to get a price benchmark, but also just to confirm how many carats the gold came to and what the precise weight was. It was actually an hilarious experience, too! The first jeweller was very otherworldy and he slightly reminded me of someone who'd be very at home in a Transylvanian cemetery; still, he was a nice chap to deal with and offered me a £300.00 price for a 9-carat bracelet weighing 30 or so grams. Then, I went to the second jeweller -- not such a nice experience. The lady greeted me as she might have done if chancing upon an unexpected elbow wart. Unsurprisingly, she gave me a relatively poor valuation: £275.00. Armed with these two figures, I now headed for the Hatton Metals website, used their calculator, and it told me that I would stand to receive -- at that day's gold prices -- £363.00. Wow -- much improved! So, I emailed them, they got back instantly, I then Special-Delivered the bracelet to them yesterday at 4pm and this morning, by 11am, an email from the company informed me that they'd received my gold bracelet and... hey presto, there was the money sitting in my account: £364.13, slightly more than advised, which was a bonus.

All in all, a super-fast service and a company which has a very well organised communications system. On top of this, Hatton Metals made the whole process as simple as it gets.

Just to say: I rarely, if ever, leave feedback on websites, so this is very uncommon for me to do so. However, as someone who recently lost his father and was quite keen to have a painfree experience, then I am happy to report that Hatton Metal's service is exemplary and MSE was absolutely correct to recommend it.
