I have just come across an interesting posting on page 6 of this thread by jambo_82.

Looks like a someone with insider knowledge into the set up at HGM.

And to anyone who dismisses the Chard investigation into HGM. Why have HGM not instructed lawyers to get all over Chard and pull the page if it was not true or have a great deal of truth. It looks like this page has been up for years.

    FOR THE RECORD

I am not saying HGM is another British Gold Refinery and are probably a reasonable payer for scrap gold BUT most of the posts on this thread are very "interesting"

And some might say if HGM genuinely HAD done wrong Chard would have instructed lawyers to act.

Have used HGM before and been quite pleased with them so when I chose to use them again I sent off my items including a 9ct gold chain which had hallmarks etc but HGM came back and said wasn't gold. I had asked for it back and took it to the local jewellers who verified it was gold! Now the weight of this chain would have netted £360. So why did HGM say it was fake?! Error? Not sure but it put me off using them again.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Clearly you have not got a clue about UK Libel laws

Chard has had that page up for years = no libel

    Simple

Also there looks like some unhappy HGM customers are coming through on this thread posting their experiences.
    • When did you use it -5 Feb
    • What did you send it -broken chains / earrings
    • How much did it promise you -£302
    • How much did it deliver - £293
    • How efficient was the service - posted items 4 Feb & money in my account by 12noon on 5th
    • If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason- stones were removed so weight slightly less
    • Anything else other people should know - A local jeweller offered £165 for same items last week. I would recommend HGM to friends.
  • I used HGM for the first time based on it being on here, money same day result
  • I received a postal gold for cash envelope through the door and thought I would find out how much my broken and old fashioned jewellery would get me. My friend told me to check on Martin Lewis website. There was a link to Hatton Garden Metals. I weighed my gold which came to 71g. The website said I could get £855.00, it sounded too good to be true. I visited 2 shops in the city centre to find out how much they would offer. Both were approx £670.00. I was also told that one of my rings was 18ct gold and the rest was 9ct. I checked again on the Hatton Garden Metals website and was given a quote of £960.00. I was a bit sceptical. Even if the amount they were finally going to pay was quite a bit less I decided I had nothing to lose. As long as I got the equivalent or slightly more than the two shops were offering I would still be better off. I sent of the gold by special delivery on the Monday evening. It arrived on the Wednesday morning. I received an email around lunchtime on Wednesday stating that £942.00 had been paid into my bank account. I was amazed and very impressed at the service. I received more than £250 more than the shops were offering. Thank you Martin Lewis and Hatton Garden Metals. I have been recommending you to everyone I know.:T
  • I thought the same way but I am a genuine recipient of a lump sum from HGM and have now bought some new doors with the cash I received. Trust Martin Lewis.
  • Hi, I posted 14g of gold off on Saturday and the money was in my bank account on Monday morning. Great price. Couldn't be easier or faster.
  • Used Hatton Garden Metals as recommended by MSE. Never sold gold before, was going to use F HINDS in High St as they had great offer of giving vouchers to spend there. I couldn't find anything I liked, so their cash offer wasn't as good as HGM. I weighed the gold, asked for a quote on Friday, got a quote back immediately and sent it in the post Monday lunchtime. Got money in my bank 10am Tuesday, it was 2g less than my scales, fair enough, but a great price. BRILLIANT.
