Does anyone do Conditioner Only method?

OK, so I'm thinking;
Are people trying this 'conditioner only' method because they're trying to be MSE?
OR
they want to experiment and see what their hair feels like?
OR
Are people just getting carried away again?:o All these recommendations dont make them very MSE if people are buying extra conditioner in addition to their usual shampoo/conditioner, extra oil and flannels in addition to their normal skin care, buying extra items of clothing just because they were an ebay steal????
I guess thats why I like/am hooked on sharron's no more spend thread; because the whole point of MSE is make do and mend; use up what you have first, before going out and buying something new that you dont actually need
OR
Am I just hormonal
I think most of the CO trialers are aiming to improve their hair condition and manageability this way and ultimately spare themselves the expense of the numerous products they currently buy to achieve the same end, none of which come cheap. If I've got the gist of the thread correctly
In my earlier post, I explained how I decided it wasn't particularly MS for me (just interested in saving money and my hair condition is fine anyway!!) and reverted back to using shampoo (more frugally though). I had started it initially when I ran out of shampoo but had some half-used bottles of conditioner to use up.
I just cleanse with oil...don't do full OCM......, a £1.69 250ml bottle of almond oil is lasting me for ages, removes my ,make-up and the day's grime and I now buy no make-up remover, wipes or toner, just the almond oil. It is saving me a fortune and I am a total convert and will NEVER buy these products again! In addition to being MS, I credit OC with rebalancing and revitalising my skin. I was well-chuffed yesterday to be told by the beautician who was giving me an Espa facial as part of a birthday treat, that my skin was in really good condition (I think she was too polite to add..."for your age"!!!!) and asked me which product range I used!
So yes, I think the motives are pretty well MS all the way, and I think many of us are surprised by how good the results are.
PS I love Sharrons no-spend thread too!0 -
It certainly is for me!
2 bottles of apple cider vinegar per year: £1.88
1 bottle of olive oil per year: £1.12
1 bottle of castor oil per year: £1.79
2 tubs of bicarbonate per year: £0.46
Faceclothes pinched from a hotel room (or use the corner of a towel) - FREE

Its save me money in just a month. I know because I buy my products from boots once a month, I didn't have to go to boots last month because I'm just using cheapo conditioner. I bought 2 bottles of coconut shampoo at 99p which have lasted the month. I'm also using hardly any other products on my hair (I don't need them because my hair has relaxed from using this method). It also depends on how much you spend on hair products in the first place to say whether its moneysaving.
If you are going to use value/basics conditioner then its going to be about 60p a month for me. The only extra cost I can think of is the extra rinsing. Well I know some of you thrifty lot have managed to get their showers done in record time but I spend ages in the shower in the morning anyway (trying to wake up)
I would say that my hair was incredibly dry and breaking (and I mean serious breaking) and its really turned my hair around. Its grown approx 3/4" since I started (no breaking). So for me its a mixture of moneysaving and helping to restore my poor hair.0 -

I see what you are saying. But for some types of moneysaving you have to think outside the box. Give things a try, if it doesn't work for you then you have wasted 30p on some cheap conditioner which you can use to shave your legs. Its like trying a cheap tin of beans. If it works for one person it may work for someone else. Its about thinking a bit differently, who'd of thought I would be taking my makeup off with olive oil and castor oil.

CO washing gets a big thumbs at the end of week 1! For me, personally, I find it's best to wash it every other day! It's feeling very silky...and no frizz:j
I have to confess that it's about having better looking hair. The MS part is an added bonus. Thanks flippin for starting the thread:T
Could anyone direct me to a thread where i can find out about oil cleansing please?Less is more0 -
I have really greasy hair and skin ,hair can look greasy hours after washing
On reading here about oil cleansing the skin ,it kind of rang an alarm bell with me
For years I have been using a cleanser and moisturiser designed to control oil ,so I switched to oil based moisturiser and within a day my skin was looking a lot better !!
In fact within a week I had dry patches ?!?! I have NEVER had dry patches ,it wasn't a problem tho ,just applied a little more oil to those areas.
I am now wondering whether the same could be said of my hair?!
Might give this a go ,not going to do any harm can always revert back0 -

If anyone needs another reason toher than beautiful hair and potential money saving read this http://www.natural-health-information-centre.com/sodium-laureth-sulfate.html (not personally linked), I know you can always find something bad about everything but SLS is one of the nasties when it comes to ingredients in shampoo (its in toothpase too!)

Hi everyone:) I have used the Tesco coconut conditioner for a couple of days now and I have to say I'm not keen, yes, my hair is clean, soft and smells great but its really frizzy, I have been leaving it to dry naturally for a couple of days and my curls have gone all afro:eek:I'm going to give it one last chance today because I combed the conditioner through last night when wet forgetting that if I brush my hair when wet it can frizz so will have another go today:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
