What is the best conditioner to use for this, regardless of cost (not very MSE but I use Redken at the moment so would save a lot on shampoo anyway). I have very oily hair.

    Thanks.
    Thank you all who post.

My hair hangs in loose but defined curls on a good day, on a bad day, like today, its a bushy mess, I have tried so many products over the years, all of them just sit on my hair and make it look greasy, my hair is in reasonable condition and about shoulder length, I wear clip in wavy/curly extensions which make it waist length, with a view to growing my hair to this length:rolleyes: I have just noticed it says on the conditioner for dry/damaged hair, I bet I've bought the wrong one:o

Have you tired the lighter frizz ease and also hav you tried Aveda be curly? I have fine hair, but very, very curly, and aveda is a lovely consistancy but a little too ligh for my tight curls, but great on my mothers looser curs with coarser hair, but doesn't touch dh's hair...similar to my mohers! Its not as straight forawrd a choice as you'd think.

lso, I often ust leave conditioner on through the lengths: is surprisingly effective.

Bought a new styligh thing today so I'll try it out and let you know. It is worth trying everything to find the right one, because there is so much variance between people, I don't think recommmendation is necessarily the way forward.

I read that the cheaper, thinner conditioners are the best for cleansing but the thicker ones are better for conditioning after CO washing. But like lostinrates said its hard to give recommendations for individual hair. HTH

Ok,dont think this will work for me :/
Used conditioner only this morning and even following the instruction ,it looked and felt awful so I washed it again with just shampoo.
On the plus side using conditioner first then shampoo seems to work better that the other way around ...work that out ?

Ah.. yes its known as CWC washing (conditioner/wash/conditioner) its supposed to protect your hair from the shampoo. Not very moneysaving but it certainly works.

No way! I thought I was onto something there- I've been applying my conditioner, leaving it on damp hair for 20 minutes to an hour, rinsing and washing with shampoo and then conditioner as normal. Noticeable difference, much less frizz- even after care products don't help as much. THought I had invented the process myself- but its a known thing? guess am not as inventive as I thought!!
  • Well I've tried washing hair with conditioner only, and it just looked greasy, and my scalp felt itchy, so I think I'll give it a miss. Shame though, since I get a very dry, itchy scalp (not dandruff) and thought this method might have helped.

Does this work for people who have bad dandruff? Or will not using dandruff products make it worse?

Tried this last night with alberto balsam conditioner, it worked ok, but not great (it is quite "dry" for a conditioner though). Think it could be because my hair had got particularly greasy before I washed it, so I'll try it again tonight and see how I get on.
