Does anyone do Conditioner Only method?

I tried this yesterday with some of the cheapest conditioner I had in the house, my hair has been a nightmare recently - even freshly washed, it still looked a bit dirty
. Like most people I was expecting a huge big greasy mess, but I was suitably impressed. Did it again this morning with the tesco coconut conditioner and it looks alright and seems clean :T
The only downside to this kind of CO washing (for me) is that is can be rather boring! I miss the shopping experience of buying and trying different products, the bottles don't look nice in my bathroom and I miss the gorgeous smells you get from the pricier products. I don't feel as pampered as I did when I splashed out on Bedhead. I found myself lingering around the hair aisle in the supermarket yesterday (I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!) Then felt a bit deflated puting the 36p value conditioner in my trolley!I know MrsE is worse than me too

I did this yesterday. I had washed my hair the day before 2 x shampoo 1 x conditioner. I normally leave it 2-3 days. So today would have been due the next shampoo wash but it looks ok so will leave and see how it is tomorrow.
I only had the head and shoulders conditioner that goes with the shampoo so I put shedloads of that on. rubbed in well. Wrapped in a towel for 10 minutes and washed my face, cleaned bathroom etc etc whilst waiting. Got in the shower and washed it off til my hair was squeaking. Thats when you know its all out. It actually came out quicker than after a shampoo and this is from a thick conditioner!
Results were that it looked clean and was soft and full of volume. TBH I didn't notice any difference from not using shampoo as its how it always looks any way. I shall invest in a cheaper one and test with that and see if there is any change in it. I need to use a clarifying shampoo first mind!0 -
Well I used coconut oil as a depoofer (ifykwim). It was OK but I think I prefer my serum. The thing with using the oil is that I was nervous of using too much and making my hair greasy, I could have used a little more as its not greasy at all.
I used a bit of spray gel yesterday to scrunch dry my curly bob. I was expecting to have to shampoo to get the gel out but the CO wash removed it really well, so I now know that I can use products on my hair without having to shampoo out. Though I imagine if I used products everyday eventually I would have to clarify.0 -
Hi I went out and bought the Tesco coconut conditioner at 99p yesterday and washed my hair with it its my first time i've used this method and its left my hair very soft!
My hair is very thick already and it has more body in it now, im trying to cut down on haircare costs usually I use Aveda or Redeken products both very pricey so going from £20+ for shampoo and conditioner to 99p is fantastic and means I can wash my hair more if needed but I only need to do it every 3 days anyhow.
I do use John Freida frizz ease after and want to cut that out too can anyone suggest a good alternative? perhaps something natural like an oil without becoming greasy.
Helena and anyone else with CURLY/WAVY/FRIZZY thick hair. I have found this on Youtube. I have done this today using morrisons value conditoner instead and not bothering using the water (IE just straight from the bottle). IT REALLY WORKS to define/relax my curls without any weight, no fluffy poofyness. Would be perfect substitute for serums or "cone" products - cheap, cheap, cheap too!
If I knew how to put photos up I would show you my lovely curls.

As I said, I often just leave in nromal conditioner. For me its not as good as my frizzease/curls rock combo but its ok for more relaxed days, and certainly days when you don't want to wet hair with product in but needs redefining/frizz banishing.0 -
Lostinrates - apologies. Looking back on the thread you did mention leaving in conditioner, must put my glasses on.0

Apologies for sounding huffy, truely wasn't meant that way!:o0 -
If only I had learned these things a few years ago before I bought my GHDs. I feel like I can enjoy my curls (for the first time) whilst my hair grows again!0

Well its been 2 days and my hair looks, but oddly enough doesn't really feel, greasy!
Am having a bath tonight. So I shall use my clarifying shampoo and then my 10 mins or more conditioner and see how that goes for me. So far no dandruff. But won't really know until next week how that will go!0 -
Well it's been nearly 2 weeks now since I last used shampoo, and I'm delighted with the condition of my hair.:j I've been washing it every other day with either Tesco coconut or Co op tea tree conditioner. It's working well for me.
Also been cleansing my face with aqueous cream. Another success story as my spots have disappeared. If I'm having a shower i rub it over my face, go in the shower then rinse it off at the end.
So it's a win, win situation. Saving money and better hair and skin!Less is more0
