It's so silky and soft! I'm truely amazed, tbh, especially since I used the only conditioner I have which isn't a cheap one.:o It's Tresseme.Shall buy some cheap conditioner when I'm out and about.
OH won't stop touching my hair. :rotfl:
In an attempt to get my hair to grow faster ( ) I've ask OH to massage my head. He said my hair (which is normally v dry) has never been so soft.
I would recommend when if you want to carry on with it to get cheapy cone free conditioner. In fact you can get pricier ones that are cone free. Some people "wash" with the cheap value stuff and then do a finish off with a thicker conditioner through the ends. I haven't needed to do that though, once is enough for me.0 -

Fwiw i have great hair today, which is a surprise because I used coconut il, which my hair desn't normally like, but I thought I'd give one more go. I put the oil in in yesterday morning, and left overnight, then CO washed with a bottle of Boots sea kelp and mint (I think) conditioner, which was left here by a guest but which sounded sort of right , desite some nasties, from what I read in the linked CO threads, then left in some conditioner I use in winter (ins a horse tail conditioner really) then normal styling products, (for me that is curls rock curling cream and frizz ease). And my hair is outstandingly good, soft not crispy..as curly hair is wont to be, very shiny and my scalp is wonderfully comfortable.
what with the oild cleanse method having left my skin better, and having I think lost some weight this week I'm feeling rather smugDH should be coming home later tonight, so I'll see if he notices a difference, in the ....er, three days since he was here.:rotfl::o
I've been looking into that (mane n tail). Its supposed to be really good, would you recommend it? Where did you buy it from? I hear the shampoo is a bit harsh but the conditioner is great for people growing their hair. Would love to try it.0 -

OK, well in going to the bottle I'm immeadiately realising before loking for ingreadiants the name suggests it is a protein conditioner. Its also NOT very Money saving.
This one is called: megatek equine rebuilder and is produced in the states by eqyss grooming products and I bought onlne from a company called Tailgator (through website). I did actually buy it for one of my horses though.
ingrediants: deionised water, hydrolysed keratin protein;) stearalkonium chloride, glyceryl stearate, peg 100 stearate, marine protein, peg 40, panthenal, dimethocine copolyol, magnesium citrate, allantoin, amino acids, methylparaben, mucopolysaccharides, propylparaben imidazoliddinyl urea, fragrance.
don't look so hot eh, packed full of proteins though, for those who want protein!
Intersting that I both added oil from coconut oil and protein for the brilliant result, yet I think I am in general over proteining.
I should say I have pretty good hair, and am often complimented on it the differnce today is that it has lost the faults I see when other peole say how great it is....the fluff. I've always wondered what makes a good hair day, its exciting to think I might be able to control this more.0 -
flippin36, thank you so much:) I havent been to Tesco yet:rolleyes:but will go in the morning, how am I going to remember all this:DI feel like taking my laptop with me, I shall write down all the stuff to avoid and read like mad and report back, having looked at your links I'm sure protein is not for me, those links have explained so many disasters over the years, I remember a time when I was Keratin mad, like lir I think I have been confusing mositure needs;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I used to have long hair, and washed it with conditioner only for YEARS. The only two things you have to do are 1/ use enough conditioner, and 2/ leave it in for a good five minutes or more.
It doesn't matter which conditioner you use - find one that works well with your hair, and is relatively cheap. I used to use Tresemme because it comes in those huge bottles!
It also doesn't matter at all whether it has silicones in it - most conditioners do, and it is quite amusing to see that the 'silicone-free' conditioners that get touted around the internet by the anti build-up brigade do in fact have plenty of silicones listed in the ingredients. Experiment and find the one that works for you. If you do find build up occurring (and it is noticeable with this method because it normally leaves your hair very light and soft) then simply get another brand of conditioner and alternate between brands.
How does it work? Not by hidden cleansing agents in the conditioner, or by the action of proteins, but simply because any substance that contains the mix of ingredients in a conditioner will 'wash'. Something very, very similar is the use of aqueous cream as a soap in the shower/bath. It washes as well as a soap or shower gel, and yet contains no soap or detergent whatsoever, only moisturisers. (This is also worth a try if you have dry skin - a huge tub of aqueous cream is only a few quid from Boots or a pharmacy!)0 -
Just to update you all...washed my hair yesterday for the 2nd time using CO! No itchy scalp this time. I did use a different conditioner...the Asda coconut one, and also rinsed for longer. Really pleased with the results this time!:jLess is more0

OK, so I'm thinking;
Are people trying this 'conditioner only' method because they're trying to be MSE?
OR
they want to experiment and see what their hair feels like?
OR
Are people just getting carried away again?:o All these recommendations dont make them very MSE if people are buying extra conditioner in addition to their usual shampoo/conditioner, extra oil and flannels in addition to their normal skin care, buying extra items of clothing just because they were an ebay steal????
I guess thats why I like/am hooked on sharron's no more spend thread; because the whole point of MSE is make do and mend; use up what you have first, before going out and buying something new that you dont actually need
OR
Am I just hormonal0 -

I think my last post got the the point of it for me: I'd like to have more control over the bad hair days.
Haven't yet bought anything to do CO, but I have reduced the use of an expensive shampoo.
I also started the OCM and bought oil. nothing else needed as had faceclothes. Much for the same reason, I have difficult skin (in part due to medication I think) and nothing works for very long. I've only been doing it a week, and while I'm very excited I won't know if its break through for me for a month or so (about how long my skin usually tolerates new routines before complaining.)
I'm doing it to look better. Pure and simle.0
