Does anyone do Conditioner Only method?

The people who find it doesn't work - are you leaving the conditioner on for long enough? I read that because the cleaners in conditioners are gentler, you have to leave them on for longer before rinsing really well.0

Reading some of that mega thread it seems that the right onditioner is the jkey more than anything else.
Ith is a problem for me too, but wasnt when I use the heaer tea tree/mint. I think on reletion I'm using too moisturising a onditioner , but he idea of putting anything lighter on my hair seems odd.
Also TBH, I never heck my conditioners for siliones or proteins (I didn't realise proteins were bad, I thought they were good) and this seems to be a cause of this problem too0 -
I tried to read the thread, very interesting, I wonder if VO5 here is the same as VO5 in the US? I always thought it wasnt very good but they rave about it, I didnt make to Tescos today so still need to get some more conditioner, how do you know if the product has protein in it?Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Well, had a look at the link and think I'm probably going to dip out of this one!
I don't think it's going to be really MS for me, especially since I don't have any problems with my hair. I don't think it's going to be worth the experimentation, all the hot water for extra rinsing and time factor (I'm showering late at night after work and like to be in and out!!). Plus I am a bit fussy about having a clean fresh scalp, having got used to having a daily hairwash for years, because of work!
What I have decided though, is to continue to try and reduce the amount of shampoo I use each time. I have just bought Dove colour protect shampoo and conditioner on BOGOF for £2.39 (So £1.20 for the shampoo). I have date marked the bottle and will be interested to see how long I can make it last! I am using less than a 2p size quantity atm and reckon I think I can get a month (or 30 hair washes) out of a 250ml standard size bottle. When we were kids, my MS-of-necessity mum, always used to dilute the shampoo in half a beaker of warm water, rather than apply it neat, I might have a go at this and see if I can get away with less!
Interesting tip in the link about washing your hair upside down. since my hair is thick and longer now and never really dirty; doing this enables me to get the shampoo more directly to my scalp and is more economical I think. I can then work it through the length, once more water is added.
Good luck all, anyway!!

PS I'd never rated VO5 products at all either gg, thought they were terrible tbh!0 -

Isnt it funny how we go back to things we were brought up with? Things that really grated on me (shut the door your letting all the heat out) I now find myslef saying:rolleyes:Anyway back on topic, my hair this morning was certainly in need of a wash, as normal on the second day, so I had another go with the conditioner (same one as last time) and its spotless, easy to style but a touch dull lookingI do think I could of rinsed a bit longer but I'm still really pleased and going to carry on, off to Tescos this afternoon so will be reading conditioners:)

I definitely have to CO wash my hair everyday. Have woken up with a lousy cold and didn't want to wet my hair and go out in the cold wind. Well this afternoon I have had to CO wash my hair because it looked appauling (noramally I could have got away with it).
The thing is it fits in with my routine because I get in the shower in the morning and wash my hair. The only difference is that I'm not doing the shampooing and spending a few extra minutes concentrating on the conditioner. I could spend all morning in the shower so it doesn't bother me.
Well after a month I definitely know that I have spent much less on products regardless of the amount of conditioner. Because the condition is so good I'm hoping that I will be spending less on trims too (I have ambitions for long silky locks). Its a bit of an experiment for me, my hair was so broken I really had to think differently as to how I look after my hair on a daily basis.0 -

Sorry glowgirl forgot to reply to this - Protein is good for the hair if its badly broken/damaged. But too much protein can have the opposite effect and make your hair dry and brittle. Its a bit of a mindfield once you start searching things on the net! (and we all know that everything on the net is true)
Shampoo with proteins include- Amino acids
- Silk
- Wheat
- Hydrolized
- Milk
- Egg
- Keratin
- Collagen
Also, if a conditioner says "repair" or "strengthening", then chances are it's a protein shampoo
Tips & warnings:- Not everyone's hair likes protein. Some hair drinks it up, some needs it once in a while, some just hates it. See what works for you. Also, read this excellent article about protein overdose *link*
- Do this test to see if your hair needs protein.
- Protein leaves hair crunchy and brittle, so you need to follow it up with a moisture treatment.

Interesting thread.
I would never have dreamed of washing my hair with conditioner only before I read it.
I've just tried it and will feedback when my hair is dry.

Flippin, that is amazing, thank you. I think I have often been confusing moisture and protein needs of my hair!
Fwiw i have great hair today, which is a surprise because I used coconut il, which my hair desn't normally like, but I thought I'd give one more go. I put the oil in in yesterday morning, and left overnight, then CO washed with a bottle of Boots sea kelp and mint (I think) conditioner, which was left here by a guest but which sounded sort of right , desite some nasties, from what I read in the linked CO threads, then left in some conditioner I use in winter (ins a horse tail conditioner really) then normal styling products, (for me that is curls rock curling cream and frizz ease). And my hair is outstandingly good, soft not crispy..as curly hair is wont to be, very shiny and my scalp is wonderfully comfortable.
what with the oild cleanse method having left my skin better, and having I think lost some weight this week I'm feeling rather smugDH should be coming home later tonight, so I'll see if he notices a difference, in the ....er, three days since he was here.:rotfl::o

Okay. Hair is all dry.
It's so silky and soft! I'm truely amazed, tbh, especially since I used the only conditioner I have which isn't a cheap one.:o It's Tresseme.Shall buy some cheap conditioner when I'm out and about.
OH won't stop touching my hair. :rotfl:2019 Wins
