Thanks for that, we'll try again on Monday (when people are about to answer the 'phones) and I'll report back just in case it's of any use to anyone else, btw we did get a quick email response from Fairfx this morning (though they weren't answering the 'phones) so good for them ! Roger
  • I had a similar prob yesterday 18th Jan, 1st day of use of my newly aquired Fairfax card, which was declined twice having been confirmed valid. A frustrated wife desperate to book flights with the peoples favourite and having lost the will to live and unable to face filling in again all the par's for a party of four, used my Visa incurring the usual fees. Today I was able to use the Fairfax to book flights which was accepted most annoying, I hope the earlier attempt was just a glitch.(Might just have been the magic touch)

Yes my wife gave up and I purchased the tickets with a visa and payed the fees, it's so annoying 'cause as she said we're paying just as much in telephone calls to FairFX and Ryanair trying to sort out the problems as we may have saved by using the FairFX card so now it has cost us the 'phone calls and the admin fees ... who'd be a "Money Saver" ... I sometimes wonder why I bother ... anyway let's look on the bright side ... at least we can afford to get away for a while ! Regards Roger

That's more expensive than the Net+ card
The NET+ card is free to load if you do it by bank transfer (although this is not instant - takes 3 working days). Credit or debit card loading only costs 1.75% (much cheaper than RyanAir's £5 / €5 flat fee and is instant.

I am having the same issue with the Neteller virtual pre-paid mastercard.... Ryanair keeps declining payment stating the payment method is not valid/wrong card type.

I have tried 3 different "card numbers" as these get generated by Neteller online for each transaction, and still no joy...!

I now have all my funds on the Neteller account and cannot pay for the flights... grrr.... Honestly Ryanair should start playing fair and square...

    any suggestions?
  • Why blame Ryanair? It might very well be Netteller or Mastercards fault.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.

I have a physical card which works. Appearantly the virtual cards do NOT work at Ryanair due to the number series which are cided as non prepaid. See http://http://blog.neteller.com/net-plus-and-ryanair/#comments At comment #8 this is written by someone from Neteller:
    Hi there,
Yes you’ll be able to use your Net+ Chip & PIN prepaid card to book with Ryanair once it arrives. Here’s the section from my blog article addressing your question:
Unfortunately, the Net+ virtual prepaid card is currently not recognized by Ryanair as a prepaid card, as it is incorrectly designated by our card issuer. We are working to get this problem resolved as soon as possible.
Rest assured, the Net+ Chip & PIN prepaid card is properly designated and will work when booking with Ryanair.

Just get the physical card and it will work. I have now booked about 7 flights using Neteller physical card and it works flawlessly.

Ditto Lehman ^^^^ .. you are confusing the two Neteller services. You are using the 'Virtual Mastercard' which generates a unique Mastercard number for each purchase, and which Ryanair do not accept as a Prepaid Mastercard. You need to apply for the actual Neteller Net+ Prepaid Mastercard, which works fine.
