Evening everyone.
Just a quick one today, as i'm shattered. I only managed about 2 hours sleep last night as i just couldn't get comfy. I still have a bit of marking and paperwork that has to be done tonight, as i got messed around at work.
I had to go to a meeting i knew nothing about, so had to cancel my practical equipment that i had planned, and leave questions from a book. That meant my free time was then used for planning a different lesson, and preparing for the meeting. Then as the day wore on, i was too hot and bothered, and stuff just didn;t happen even though i kept trying. At least i can use the 1st lesson for tomorrow, and my week is a bit better planned.
Will just do a quick tea of leftover chilli, perhaps with waffles from the freezer.
Plan is for an earliesh night, so i will tape prison break and watch it later, and go to work in unironed clothes. What a scruff.
dorry - well done to your son.
See you tomorrow.

Hi guys
The forum team have just been talking about this and asked what I thought as to be honest they're stumped. Obviously if someone disabled was offended it would be taken off straight away but the fact someone is using it to talk about themselves makes it rather difficult to judge.
We also have varying views on it. I had an analogy that may (or may not) help so I said I'd post it and see what you all think...
As you might know I have epilepsy. I've only had 5 fits so it's not at all serious (I've heard of people that have that many in a month or week) and don't consider or call myself disabled or any other synonym. That's because I've kind of stuck my head in the sand though and kid myself I'm not "disabled". In the PC strict sense of the word that's probably what I should be called.
Now, at home and at work I refer to my fits as "break-dancing" just to lighten the situation up - it helps me deal with it - but if I were to call it that on the forum there may well be people, whether they had epilepsy or not, that would be offended by that so I don't.
I think you probably know what I'm trying to say. I think while it doesn't seem to offend most people that have posted on this thread perhaps it's better just to try not to use the term simply because it does offend some people, even if they're in the minority?
As I said, you don't have to agree with me - it's just my thoughts on it...

This is probably the best way we could sum it up and i hope you realise we find this just as difficult to call as you guys do

Hi Andrea
Thanks for the analogy and obviously I know exactly where your coming from hun. I don't agree really, but am not a person to stumble anyone. I pm'd Martin about this and his reply made some sense;)....thanks Martin!!
For the very small minority though, I will reframe from using this term even though I havent offended another disabled person:D...and apologise to the couple of people I did offend:o

Evening all! Managed to get up on time this morning thankfully. Really sleepy so only just managed to get ready - and not enough time to make a lunch to take so went without. It was quite quiet where I did the stall today so I didn't sell much, but hopefully a few bookings. I should really be calling them tonight. Lol, writting that made me feel terribly guilty so have made the calls ;-)
I'm looking forward to tomorrow as I have no work booked, all children are in school including DS1 who has decided to go in to do some of his GCSE study. Hopefully I can get to sleep at a sensible time tonight and have plenty of get up and go to get on tomorrow.
Hugs to all, esp PP - though the treatment sounds awfull, hopefully it will leave you feeling much better. I noticed that you were still online in the early hours and up early this morning - I don't know how you do it(and you say you had a good night!!). I struggle even when I get a good nights sleep (even with my day time 'naps'!)
I wish I could do something about this constant tiredness - I feel as though I'm old before my time (I'm 33). It was all I could do as I was driving home today to stay awake
Ah well, I've the whole day to myself to look forward to, and I'm sure that if I can get some cleaning done I'll feel much better in myself :A

Hi all :hello:
Just a quick note to say hello. :j :j
I'm being observed tomorrow, so I've just finished tweaking my plans. The head normally just pops in, writes a couple of things down and fails to give you feedback. I've got a shed load of marking to do too, so I think I'd better get on.......... in a couple of mins!
Someone asked how my dad got to be a "Freeman of the City of London". Well, to be honest, I'm not overly sure. He's a member of the Worshipful Company of Farmers (being a farmer...) and he was nominated to become a freeman. It's not a funny handshakes freeman, just one of the many companies........... Anyway, in the old days it would have entitled him to trade within the City of London. Nowadays......... erm, it means that we all get to go down to London for the day and see some of the sights.
Edited to say, look here:
http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/leisure_heritage/freedom_of_city/ for info about the Freedom of the City of London
Ooooooh, nearly forgot to tell you that I got my bike that OH had promised me for my birthday. We went up to Rutland Water to get it, as OH had done his research and decided that the place near Oakham sold the "right" bikes. His parents live in Oakham, so we popped in for a cuppa whilst the bike was being put together. His big sister turned up with her husband and their little boy (our god son). OH was doing "aeroplanes" around the garden with god son  Anyway, turns out that his big sister is pregnant again! Only the early stages though, so fingers crossed.
Must go and watch X-factor!
