If you're posting that just to try to get a reaction from the trolls, please don't. Sadly they do seem to like playing on this board more than some, however if you ignore them they do usually get bored and go elsewhere.
Do you have access to somewhere on private land that you can leave the car until the new disc arrives? Maybe a mates garage or drive? As a point of interest, I think you will find that an uninsured car on the public highway can be removed, impounded and crushed, so if anyone thinks the idea above is a good one, it really isn't!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

6 points last time I looked for no insurance.
If the offence was failure to display, unfortunately you wernt displaying so your guilty as charged (although innocent until proven so).0 -
Think you need to clarify the dates, when you did what.
The DVLA website gives you a timespan to notify them if you have not received your disc, Think its 14 days?
It appears you have not had tax for over 5 weeks? And are still using the car.
Think you need to list the dates and can you prove the DVLA took the money, This would be your main defence in court, Still guilty of not displaying or notifying them though.0 -
You need to be a little careful too...my hubby had to get a replacement tax disk the other day (he lost it in between it turning up and putting it in the car, !!!!!!!!) and the ONLY way they would do it was for him to go in person to the local DVLA office, fill out a replacement form and pay a £7 fee.....They wouldn't post it to him. Are you SURE they are posting yours?Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

im quite glad this topic has come up, not happy youve been caught for it though.
a lot of folk on here seem to think that the failure to display doesnt get enforced any more due to anpr and the likes. if you bought and paid for VED it will be on the system as being taxed but you just didnt receive the disc.
this is proof that this law is still enforced, stupid and antiquated as it may be....work permit granted!0 -
i had not received my tax disk due to an error in the post or the tax people. is it my fault i didnt receive it? why would i buy a tax disk and make a concious decision to not display it?
In a box of my vehicle documents live my tax discs dated 08, 09 & 10. none have been displayed.
I've not received a ticket though :A0 -

A few points: ANPR checks really aren't as wide spread as people might think. Number plates aren't always visible to ANPR, like if cars are parked bumper to bumper. Cars might be running on fake/stolen plates, but without tax, ANPR might only flag the car if a theft of plates was reported. ANPR can struggle with chav or dirty number plates (both of which are illegal in their own right).
So there are reasons why displaying a bit of paper is a quick, dirty and actually effective way of checking if a car is insured, especially if an officer is on foot patrol. They also allow the general public to report an untaxed car.
Also think about it this way, if you can't be trusted with a bit of paper (either to get it in time, not to lose it, display it...) can you be trusted with a 1 tonne lump of metal?"One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
What happens if you have a cover over your car? I use a half cover in the winter as I live in an exposed area and don't apreciate scraping ice or brushing off snow, am I failing to display? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
