  • Hi black pudding, welcome to the thread, I know that some people have managed to get feedback removed but I think that was when Amazon agreed that it wasn't their fault, so they might not be able to do it for you - worth a try though,........ who's got the phone number? someone must have it to hand......

If it doesn't work can you re-join with a new email address?

  • So what's the going rate?

My local library charges £1.50 for a hardback non fiction and £1.00 for paperback non fiction - at those prices I can't just buy on a hunch, I need to check them out first before I buy - the annoying thing is there are PCs there that are free to use and wouldn't I just love to wheel the 'withdrawn' trolley over to the other side of the room and spend an hour checking the ISBNs out - I think that someone might notice and I'd prefer to do it with a cup of tea and a biscuit or two as well - they don't really offer a good public service to rate payers do they?

Our library usually charge 20/30p for paperback and 50/£1 for hardbacks.

Quite often if we are in there and the trolly is full they will say take a few and only charge for 1/2 of them :)

Our library depends. I recently picked up a load at 10 and 20p, but it's not split by paperback/hardback, it's just random. But children's books are more expensive, and up to £1 each.

    Not Happy!
Nothing again today. Thats 2 days now.

Not only that I ordered 8 books myself from marketplace, and 2 have been cancelled as they say the postage is too high. Tough luck, not my problem!!! I have made this mistake myself but have taken the loss on the chin as it was my fault. I wasn't going to leave feedback, but now it's happened to 2 books in 3 days I will leave negative feedback. They maybe from different people, but this just shows that people will undercut for the sake of it, without thinking about the consequences.

    Hi Kat,
Nice to see you back. Since you sent me the list, I have become a pro merchant myself. Can you tell me how to get to the list from my Amazon account, at the moment I just refer to your link and get fresh details. Also can you tell me if it is possible to carry out a search within the list either by isbn or title. I found a book that I saw on the list that you sent me, but can't find it on a more recent list. Could have expired or just missing it on the huuuuuge list.
    Thanks.

    Hi again Kat,
I have just found the "Find" in the edit section of Excel.
I never seem to find these things until 30 seconds after I ask the question!

Interestingly (or not ) I recently found a book in a charity shop that I was after , priced at £2.00 on the front, when I looked inside it had a norfolk library stamp for withdrawn from sale, and a 30p price !!!
Ok so its for charity so mark up is ok but they could have rubbed out the price. It only costs just over £3 new so that was a bit much for a damaged ex library book. Didnt buy it in the end as it was in a real poor state.

Mishka I understood how you felt about the second class post, as I felt something similar when I received a fairly expensive video which cost 84p to post, I could not help thinking it seemed mean not sending it first!! In this case, the second did take a few days too. Never mind I got over it!!!

As to the library books, I am wary of them as I sold one not so long ago and a month after selling it received an email from the buyer saying he suspected it was stolen and could I prove I had come by it honestly!

He even contacted the library concerned and eventually they were able to confirm it had been withdrawn so he apologised to me. That was one of my "peculiar" experiences on Amazon!!! Welcome by the way :)
