You can generally save more by going in store than on the Apple website.

AFAIK you can get 14% discount on consumer machines (MacBook/iMac) and 15% off pro machines (including new MacBook Pro 13").

You also get AppleCare for around £50 (instead of £130ish)

At the moment you can also get a free iPod (via cashback) as a student.

apparently it's a free ipod touch this year!
plus do you mean the applecare is £50 for students or when you buy it with a computer?
I brought my mac last year but want to get the applecare soon (it came with a year anyway - just as well as the hard drive failed!) - the cheapest I've seen if for is £100 (with student discount) not on the apple site though.
Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D
now at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!

So you're another one who isn't happy about the amalgamation then??

If it makes you feel any better I'm actually studying mining engineering with Camborne School of Mines who were taken over by Uni of Exeter so I'm on the Tremough Campus which we share with UCF.

Will you be moving to Tremough in '10 or will you have graduated by then?

Just bought a headtorch from Millets and got 10% student discount. It's not advertised and I only asked because I noticed I had my student id in my bag. Just shows that it never hurts to ask :)
  • i have just ordered my free NUS Extra card, because of having a student account with lloyds

-well it actually cost me a £1 to be fair because i added the ICIS onto to it, but free postage as well.

also rbs has their own discount card which you can register for

I bought an MBP a few weeks ago and got the 15% ed discount, free ipod touch, and the applecare protection is £47 if you buy on the day you get your mac. It's about 78% discount off the RRP I think the guy said!!! (only for students or lecturers is this price!)
  • There is a thread here as well for discounts. Could be usefull for different areas but is focused on sheffield

  • If you are aged 14 -19 you can go to a technology careers website called BigAmbition and get a free student discount card.
  • Had a look..... this is NOT the NUS Extra card.... its really the best all round one available and is accepted by load of shops and services.... you can check them all out on their website and if you apply now you get the chance to enter a competition to win a Kia car for the Autumn term.... sweet!

Or you can just use your university card which works in 99% of the places and doesn't cost a thing?

    That's exactly what I do! :-)

Is there a list of places that give a student discount on here?
