I don't suppose this is exactly the right thread as I assume this refers to Uni/college students who can be NUS members BUT my kids have a B-Line card (they're at secondary school) and many places (not all, but many) that give NUS discounts give student discounts for school students, too.
So they are trained to (a) carry the cards and (b) ask for the discount (which they are bad at. Good job I'm not afraid to ask).

I don't think anyone else seems to have come across this... but I am NOT a university student, and I have managed to obtain an NUS extra/ISIC card
There used to be a form on the NUS website, which doesn't currently seem to be available most likely due to it being the summer. There is some info on the website, but I'm new so I can't post links yet
I printed a paper application, filled it out and took it to my school's reception desk (I finished my A levels last week and as I am waiting for my results I am technically not a student at all right now).. the receptionist signed and stamped it, I sent it off and my card was posted to me. Clearly NUS have acknowledged the fact that I was, at the time, at school, since my card has the name of my school printed on it.
This might be worth a look for those of you who are having trouble getting cards
Also, something which may be of interest to those requiring photoshop: if you download the free trial of photoshop CS2, it comes with a program called ImageReady, which IS NOT PHOTOSHOP but has a lot of the same functions and is completely free to keep once the trial expires. I'm not an advanced photoshop user but am fairly confident with it and have found ImageReady to be a decent substitute most of the time. It also includes a GIF animation feature.0 -
