The discounts varied the last few months, but at the moment it's any valid student ID (with an expiry date) and it does not cover hardware. Say no to Computers and Lappys getting 10% off, need to be a staff member for that one.0 -
Some software is available with special student licences - full software but licence precludes commercial use. A while back got Adobe Photoshop for our youngster for just under £100, compared to over £500 otherwise. BEWARE however that you have to be sure the student will meet the qualifying criteria (read T&C carefully) before buying, else you may lose your money ... what you buy is useless till they send you a key code to enable it. For Adobe had to scan student card - photo and expiry date was their main interest. Quite a few years ago did similar with Microsoft software - I'd be surprised if they aren't still doing some good deals.
I recently bought Adobe Photoshop CS2 (Student Edition) (PC CD).
And it's not actually so altruistic as you might think of the software companies - they know students are tomorrows customers, and the earlier buy-in to their products the better.Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

I don't have the NUS extra card, I just ask if they do student discounts and most shops accept my university student card. I think £10 for the NUS card is expensive!0 -
