The Great 'Student Discounts' hunt

My uni will be offering the NUS extra card to us. Looking at the NUSonline.co.uk website, it states...

"Your NUS Extra Card also includes a free ISIC Card worth £7. This turns your NUS Extra Card into an international card with discounts in 100 countries! You can also enjoy discounts locally, online and on the high street."

I'm moving to Spain to complete my Ph.D at the start of 2007 so maybe this card may be of use to me, even with the extra cost!

Picturehouse cinemas give a student discount and compared to other big cinemas they are much cheaper and the films are great. My 'ordinary' student card has always been sufficient. I did get an NUS one but never actually used it. In london you get a discount on a bus pass which makes it really cheap.

Domino's pizza give a student discount.

Co-op supermarket used to, not sure if they still do.

Yeah but a lot of the European countries don't allow you to use it if you're over 25:mad: I tried to use mine in France and Spain and was refused most times!!!

In fact I think the only country I've ever gotten student discount in was USA and that was for the CityPass in NY. Wasn't enough to make me buy it again after the 1st year.

Subway give a 10& discount on any student card . Yumm.
I have never had a Nus card and have found I have never been turned down with just my college card.
I regularly get discounts at -

Top shop/ top man
Hmv ( who gave me thier own card )
Maplan
Pizza hut
any cinema

Never wait to see a sign or be told, just ask if they do a student discount !

just seen something to help with the discount quest--if you're at uni of london there's loadsa discount vouchers on their site, it's awesome I've just downloaded some to get money off cinema tickets, rock on! i think the link is https://www.ulu.co.uk/vouchers if you're interested

hey tell me about it no-one recognises the ulu card! but have you seen the wesbite, they've got discount vouchers for a quite a few things on there, cinema, cds and stuff, its worth a look https://www.ulu.co.uk/vouchers
