Hi
I am sorry for what you are going through and the insensitive remarks you have recieved, I did just google it and the reponse was that as many as 60 % of miscarriages in the first trimester are blighted ova, but a lot of people don't know.0 -
thats why i have headed the post as blighted ovum, so if people havent heard of it before, as i hadnt and neither had any1 i know, they have now! maybe its the nurse in me trying to educate !0

It's a similar kind of thing, mine turned out to be a complicated affair but yes, I had the same things said to me that the 'baby' was just a bundle of cells but not a real baby.
I got a positive test at the doctors, was sick, told everyone, got a bump, planned the rest of my life, gave up cigs, drinking, forbidden foods, took folic acid and was pregnant for those months! But several weeks after the m/c when the tests came back they said no, the baby had started then stopped 9 weeks ago - it was the hormones keeping you pregnant.
So was I not pregnant for those 9 weeks? Course I was! You were too. It's just that our babies didn't develop properly. We WERE pregnant though.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

Prehaps that's why those around you don't seem to understand how your feeling ,hopefully those on here will be able to give you more support ,I'm glad you posted and wish you well ...................as jay-jay said ,it will get easier but don't be in too much of a rush to get back to mormal(not a good phrase but you know what I mean I hope),that will come at it's own pace:)
You'll support each other,that's the main thing0 -
Ohh Emma, I wish I had the right words to say. I too, remember reading your first post, I was only a lurker then.
I (fortunately) havent been thru anything like what has happened to you, but a very close friend of mine has. I think the hardest thing for her, was she had just got her head around being pregnant, figured out what she was going to do with her job, pretty much picked out what pram she was having, etc etc and then at a late scan was told there was no 'baby' there. I really hope you have some suppotive friends around you at this moment, because I recall my friend going thru hell. What must be exceptionally harder for you is the birth of your brothers child. That must be sheer torture.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I really do feel for you. Good luck with everything that happens in the future. God Bless
Julie XxxI also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

I am so sorry you have had this happen. In 1998 I went for my first scan and was told the baby was ok. I was nine weeks. When I went for the next scan at 12 weeks the baby had died. Devastation. No explanation for it. The baby was only 9 weeks old but pregnancy 12. So although pregnancy had died I was still growing bigger, feeling sick. Thought I would never get over it but you just do. In 2000 I had a healthy daughter, so all I can say is try to be positive, ignore negative comments and look after your health.
Kind regardsMinifishspecial xxMinifishspecial xxMinifishspecial xx :T0 -
jay jay you have just typed what i have been thinking for the last three weeks. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx i too had given up smoking drinking etc. it felt strange at first to start doing them again (ok so maybe should hve stayed off the ciggies but its my next thing on the 'to do' list)
i have been very patient with everybody and quite open, and not openly crying and being "normal" so ppl around me have been quite open back, which has been good at times but then others i have been biting my tounge so hard. but you are right trafalga its cos they dont understand, and i appreciate that cos neither did me and OH.
im just ranting on here cos it doesnt upset my family or friends yet i still get to vent it!0 -
Hi, what a horrible time you are going through emma b. I still had ppl asking "Oh you had a baby, didn't you?" about a year after. I must have met them and told them I was pregnant and then not seen them for so long.
I felt that I wanted to talk about but ppl kept changing the subject and I ending up feeling like a woman possessed!
I got a book from the library called "Miscarriage" I cant remember who wrote it but it helped me a great deal. It was very easy to read I didnt want to put it down. I think I read different parts of it a few times.
Thinking of you emma_b!!! xxx0 -
i have some fab mates who have just been great and my OH is sooo fab i always knew he was great but after this well i just know it 200% now.
im sorry to hear of others who have been through the same thing, i know its a lot more 'common' than ppl think. its a great source of support to know ppl know how i feel.0
