Motorway driving

This is just a rant really but I'm sure many of you will be in agreement.
Driving on the motorway drives me absolutely nuts. This is principally because of the way people drive. Why do people have an issue with driving in the "slow" lane? It seems that the world and his wife think that the middle lane is the lane in which all drivers must sit, that is unless you are turning off at the next junction (it's then ok to sit in the "slow" lane) or overtaking (it's then ok to sit in the "fast" lane).
The slow lane is where everyone should be sitting unless they are actually overtaking the vehicle ahead.
Oh... and those drivers wanting to overtake the vehicle ahead and pull out a mile before they need to. What's that all about?
This all just clogs up our motorways and makes driving so frustrating!
*breathes a sigh of relief* I feel better for that.

Now you have confused me, which one is the slow lane?
I thought when driving a car you could do 70 in all three lanes.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
@ OP: I'm with you on most of that (bar the slow / fast terminlogy). A lot of people just don't [STRIKE]know[/STRIKE] care how to use lanes.Chocolate80 wrote: »Oh... and those drivers wanting to overtake the vehicle ahead and pull out a mile before they need to. What's that all about?0

You are just being your usual pedantic self.
We all know what the OP meant.0 -
Thank you Hintza.
I only used those terms because I don't know which is offside and which is nearside.0 -

Offside? isn't that something to do with football that women can't grasp?European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
exactly like the idiot in a motor home the other day that drove in the outside lane of a dual carriage way for 5 miles at 45-50 mph even tho they could of pulled in to the inside lane - *****0

Nearside lane is nearest the pavement/kerb. Offside lane is the furthest to the right. We used to have a sign near us "Football buses use offside lane". Made me laugh.0

I think HGV's shouldn't be allowed in lanes 2 or 3. I was on the M53 last week, middle of the day, traffic flowing ok. 2 HGV's in lane one. 2nd lorry decides it wants to overtake first one, so pulls out into lane 2. My my own benefit I slowed down and followed behind these two lorries to see how long it took to get past. It took just under two miles to get past them. Thats two whole miles of traffic being forced to slow down. Two wholes miles of slower traffic causing traffic jams further back.
HGV's should be made to stay in lane 1.
Thats my rant over.
Pity Conor isn't here to tell me otherwise...0 -
I now travel home at 9pm two nights per week, the number of times I've passed people in lane 3 whilst I'm in lane 1 who are:-
a. Not doing the speed limit
b. Have full beam on despite the motorway being lit and me being in front of them.0
