This aspect never occoured to me - you mean that parents who allow their children to go out begging with menaces are especially picky when it comes to hygeine?
Frankly I think that they should be grateful that anyone is prepared to go along with the American style commercialisation of yet another festival.
We weren't allowed to harass the neighbours (not that it would have occoured to us) and were expected to perform a trick (or recitaion or party piece) in order to earn a treat.0 -
