Oh, g'wan then.
These are currently the hot favourites. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
i made these last halloween for a nursery.
very simple to make, just a basic fairy cake in a green cake cake, with a round ball of buttercream on top. to make the ghosts sheets, just roll out cheap white icing and cut out with a large cutter. the icing is very mouldable to give the ghosts a little bit of character!0 -

They're fabulous! :T If you could give me some very simple, detailed instructions (I don't know how to make a fairy cake!), I'll have a go at them too!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
not a prob!
the cases were from asda (gaudier the better really!).
for the mix, i use:
200g SR flour
200g baking marg
200g sugar 4 eggs.
whisk up the butter and sugar for a good 8-10 mins (pref in a mixer) until it goes very pale and soft. crack in the eggs, one at a time, and add the flour. this will give you a nice big batch of cakes, about 10, so feel free to half it. put the cases in a bun tray and fill 2/3 with the mix. bake at 160 for 10-12 mins. allow to cool completely before finishing.
as for finishing them, you just need a round something or other to prop up the ghosties head! for a halloween treat, maltesers would be great! use a bit of jam or honey and stick your round shape on top of each cake. Find something of the right radius to cut your icing, needs to cover the sponge but still show a little of the cake cake (big coffee mugs are a good size!). just drape the icing over the top and pull two edges forward to make little hands in the sheet.0 -

The bones look great (and difficult), and the cakes look foul! Perfect! :rotfl:

Thank you! The fairy cakes I can make, I'm sure. I'll make a full batch so that I've got spares for the chef.I think they'll be muffin sized, as I've got muffin cases and a muffin tin. Do you think I could make them the same as the spiders in the first post, or would the teacake on top be too big to suit the ghost? Maybe a couple of mashmallows stacked up? Maybe a marshmallow with a malteser on top?
Is the ghost just a circular piece of icing? I assume I buy, rather than make it? Do they sell it in Morrisons? Is it just fondant icing? Are you regretting getting involved yet?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
hahaha no, baking in my #1 fetish!!! to be honest, i just buy the cheapest rollout icing. asda do a smartprice one that does the job tidily. tea cake would be ideal for making the ghost head, itll be right!0
