The government should close the loophole that allows contractors (generally on higher than average wages) to set themselves up as a company and pay themselves min wage on which they pay tax/ni and then take the rest as dividends and pay no tax and in addition claim expenses vat free. legitimate high rate tax payers are paying just 10% tax when they should be paying 40 or even 50% -the government is losing key revenue from people who can afford it0

It is a huge decision to give up work to study. Mature students should not be seen as unemployed but should be recognised as not working due to studying for a career, in their own right, which in the long term will benefit society. We should not be penalised by losing existing tax credits. Society should be encourage to be more ambitious and make positive changes.0

Why does this country provide interpreters in court for people who have entered the country illegally, committed a crime and who claim not to speak the language.I'm reliably informed that the cost of an interpreter is about £400.00 per day.
Are British citizens offered this facility in foreign countries, or is Britain being taken for a ride again?
I think the government should be made to publish exact figures on the cost of providing this service and then let the people decide!!0 -
Ensure that all foreign registered heavy goods vehicles leave the UK with full fuel tanks. They buy at lower cost on mainland Europe, buy no fuel in the UK, and contribute nothing to the cost of our road infrastructure.digital0

Abolish Road Fund Duty and transfer it to Petrol Duty. The user pays...digital0

All advertised airfares should include ALL mandatory charges at the start. Then optional extras, and only have to fill in personal details at the end of the booking. Most definitely do away with having to pay a fee to pay - absurd.0

The prison system should be reformed to be cost-free to taxpayers. Inmates should pay their own costs as part of their debt to society through working in prison (e.g. prison-based businesses that inmates contribute set hours to pay for staff / therapy / buildings). Inmates could pay their debt and emerge with better work ethic and increased skill-base.0

Prevent retailers offering never ending 'sales', and offering the stupid unrealistic discounts to attract attention. If they are offering 50% off they have already doubled their intended selling price. The lesser astute buyers fall for this ploy.0

It would be really helpful to have a bank account in which you could section money to make it easier to manage money. In the concept of different 'pots' a mortage/rent pot, food pot, petrol pot, bills pots. If these were set up and people could swap money around and you take money out of a certain pot, but the account balance was for the whole account (pot). Nobody teaches you how to manage money - or you are told to budget on a spreadsheet but that's really hard to do when your on a tight budget and need to squirrel money away. I think our banks should work more for us and be more useable to our needs and this would be a really simple way to help people budget.0

Wouldn't it be much more cost effective to scrap road tax (how much does it cost to administer - DVLA / Post Office and Police to monitor) and instead add the tax to petrol, then you really do pay as you go (encourage everyone to cut their mileage), foreign drivers have to pay as well and total taxation would be less because of the elimination of the admin costs
And how would that be fair to people like me who pay just £30 a year as opposed to the gas-guzzlers in their massive 4x4s paying £400 a year and doing just the school run....uh?0
