  • Who polices councils who waste council tax (and gov taxes). It seems they just need to get those around the table to agree and then spend it. We have had soooo much silly spending in West Sussex, the like of which should result in court proceedings against the ones involved. Can we have these people controlled like....MP expenses?
  • Why is the UK continuing to contribute overseas aid to countries which are currently economically booming, e.g. China, Russia, India, Brazil (BRIC) using good taxpayers money at a time of severe austerity and cutbacks at home??
Eliminating such aid to countries that are currently economically better off than the UK and chanelling those same funds into our own country would make much more basic sense right now.
It is ridiculuous that this is occuring at a time when the majority of British people are being squeezed through no real fault of theirs, jobless figures continue to increase and in general the British people and SME's lack the necessary confidence to either consume unnecessairly or invest.
We have poverty at home - wise up and stop this foolish diversion of much needed funds now.
  • Could road tax be dated from the date it is purchased? I just bought road tax for a car I just bought, but because it is half way through the month, it was backdated to the 1st February, so I have paid for 15 days I didn't have the car, so paid for 6 months tax and only actually got 5 and a half months!
  • Smoking is killing people. Even the manufacturers know this and state it in BIG LETTERS on their products. Why do we allow it to continue. Ban smoking in this country, as a self-harming activity, and jail the Directors of cig-manufacturers, as accessories to the crime. Ban all advertising -- all of it -- as encoragement to self harm.
  • Overseas aide is stupid. Why we have to go overseas to help the needy when there so many here in UK ignored is very strange. And so much! And it just seems to allow the President of those countries to skim off that much more for their gold palaces.

Regulate credit-card lenders better and force a reduction in excessive interest rates to fair levels plus option of freezing debt so that: Individuals get out of vicious circle of just paying interest and economy is reinvigorated via consumer spending on a non-credit basis -then maybe we can die debt free.
  • THE CURRENT PRISON SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. If you start with that datum, somethings need to change fast. There are various schemes to deal with the revolving exit door of prisons. These should be trialled -- all of them but the stupid ones -- and see if any can deal with this problem. There is no place for a colonial attitude in sound economics.
  • Where a credit facility has been removed by the card provider and the debt is left to be repayed at current interest rates ie 23-35% could they not be forced to put that debt onto a structured repayment plan at a reasonable interest rate so the debt clears over a set time, expecially as they are no longer providing a service i.e. a credit facility. Too many providers withdraw credit therefore reducing their risk exposure but continue to profit from people who may be in difficulty.
  • Could the banks please pay back the millions that they owe the taxpayers, now they are able to afford ridiculous bonus payouts again?
  • Why are we expected to pay £15 a month to monitor our credit file in case someone steals our identity.
Everyone should be allowed to check their credit file for free as a right and should not just be for the rich.

Why not have a common sense group of real people to advise the Government when there are outrages like this that need changing
