Gazumping is often responsible for people not being able to purchase the property they have chosen at the price they agreed with the seller. This can prevent people from getting on to the property ladder and drives real estate prices artificially high. An agreement to sell should constitute a contract.
Having experienced gazumping first hand when buying my recently acquired retirement property (at the expense of my limited pension) I totally agree.0 -
Many people are surprised that state pensions are taxed - but they are. Stop taxing state pension and you help the worst off of our pensioners. To balance the books you can stop giving a higher personnal allowance to older people which makes their taxes simpler and less likely to go wrong.0

Charge (say) 20p deposit when buying a drink in a bottle, can or carton. Deposit returned when you take back empty container. Encourages recycling, reduces litter of abandoned drinks' containers and if drink manufacturers moan that it will affect sales of sugary or alcoholic drinks, is that a bad thing?0

Moving house should not be an opportunity for existing mortgage lenders to reassess risks and increase rates.
Existing mortgages should be portable for any sum up to the original advance, even if personal circumstances have changed – PROVIDED that the new percentage equity is no worse than for the existing house.0 -
Instead of making thousands of people unemployed, why not still cut back on people resources but by keeping everyone employed and making positions job shares instead, all will lose some money out of their monthly wage, but no-one will be jobless! (apart from those who want to take early retirement)0

Knowing those in our communities who are "illigal workers" or fruadulantly claiming benefits of all descriptions, a simple call center ( 1 we actually need ) with a local phone number, easy to remember, with or without extra incentives to report these leeches, would generate savings to the public purse.0

Make the benefits system fairer - there for those who really need it, not those that sponge off the state. People should have to do community work to get benefits (if able to).
Stop people on benefits getting all their uni fees paid when someone working & contributing to the country gets nothing - it's not fair!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

On many occasions the issue of a 'fat tax' being applied to unhealthy food has been discussed. I support this but the revenue should not fill the coffers - it should be applied to healthier food to make it cheaper for all. This would mean there is an incentive to eat healthier, save money and the NHS will benefit in the long term too.0

make the unemployed work in their local community for their benefits, ie if you get £100 per week divided by minimum wage equals the amount of hours you work.
this would benefit the whole commmunity and create jobs, as they would need experienced tradesmen/supervisors/professionasl to run/ organise it0
