  • Please make failure to comply with a civil County Court judgement a criminal offence. Too many companies/individuals just ignore small claims judgements that go against them and there's little Joe Public can afford to do in that event.
  • Contributions-based JSA for students

Give graduating students (who face the worst job market for decades but will pay an enormous amount for their degrees) an NI 'contributions record' in their own right, so that those living with partners can have a basic entitlement to jobseekers allowance for the first few months.
  • Major Builders chose the profit making organisation (e.g. NHBC) to insure and police their build quality (to the exclusion of all other regulation bodies). Consequently, to win more business from builders, it is not in their interest to enforce building regulations too strongly, to the detriment of the consumer. As an insurer they will go to all means to avoid a payout to the purchaser. Currently the only solution to disputes is long stressful and expensive legal action against well rehersed builders legal teams. Solution: 1/ Ombudsman 2/ right to independent inspection 3/ Purchaser chooses organisation/insurer.
  • I am 74 years old. My State pension is topped up to match the full State Pension. If I work the money I earn, apart from £25 pw is deducted from my Pension credit. Those on a full pension can earn what they like .Please consider changing system.Struggling financially.:(

Making the state pension tax-free would simplify the affairs of all pensioners

All means tested benefits could be eliminated saving the costs of administration.

A welcome cash boost to the majority and remove the unfairness of penalising those that make an effort to save for their retirement vs those that don’t
  • I receive all prescriptions free because I take one particular drug.

A system is already in place where contreceptives are prescribed free - but other medications are paid for when prescribed to the same person.

Surely the drug list can be reviewed so pre-determined medications remain free but other medications prescriped to the same person become chargable.
  • Impose a permanent tax on the profits made by banks to fund free face to face debt advice provided by Citizens Advice Bureaux and other advice agencies. This would improve the image of the banks and give not for profit agencies the security of long term funding.
  • Dear Sir
I believe that all benefits should be taxed and that the MAXIMUM benefit payment should NEVER be greater than the MINIMUM wage.
For short term unemployed the first two years benefit could be linked to previous two years taxable income as declared on p40 or equivalent.
    Robbin Kaye.
  • We currently have an historically low Bank of England Base Rate, yet many interest rates such as those for credit cards remain disproportionately high, bearing no relation to the Base Rate. Establish, and tie, a maximum permissible interest rate for financial products to the Bank of England Base Rate.

This pension "enhancement" insult should either be removed, thus saving the goverment bureaucracy, or be raised to say £2.50
