  • The minimum wage should be discontinued and replaced by a Living wage. This would save the government & councils millions of pounds in benefit claims. Why should our taxes go towards subsidising miserly employers who only pay the minimum because they have to. A working man should earn enough to support his family without benefits.
  • There are some UK businesses using Isle-of-Man-registered companies (which they own) to manage the sending of Vat'able goods from Uk to UK customers, arranged so that they do not have to pay Vat. I buy ink cartridges on AmazonUK and the Vat is zero because of that dodge. HMRC are aware but do not plug this crafty avoidance.
  • Administration fees to transfer on a fixed rate mortgage.

When deciding to put your mortage onto a fixed rate for a set period i.e. 5 years, it would be wonderful if you didn't have to pay an administration fee of £999 for doing so.
  • close ALL public sector final salary-based pensions to further accrual. Future generations simply cannot afford it . . . there will NEVER be a better time to force this thru . . . you just know it makes sense!:T
  • Why not include child maintenance payments in the calculation of tax credits? Some single parents are paid high maintenance payments from ex partners but receive the same amount of tax credits as those receiving low or no maintenance payments. Also, maybe it's time to increase the amount absent parents have to pay to reduce the amount of benefits the government has to pay out?
  • Why are families charged hundreds more, literally, to enjoy an annual holiday abroad in school holidays? Is this international? Travel agents should be regulated and a governing body put in place to ensure equal cost all year. INFURIATING! UNFAIR! GREEDY!
  • Banks should be required to display on savings and current accounts what your interest rates and conditions currently are. I opened an account as a best buy at the time, can't now remember what the rates were - and it's not easy to find out.

Automatic insurance renewals should be outlawed unless you have agreed to them in writing in the previous year. An insurance company should NOT have the right to debit your insurance renewal automatically WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION or WITHOUT SENDING YOU A WRITTEN QUOTATION FIRST and you agreeing to that renewal premium. I think it's a disgrace that they can automatically debit your credit or debit card just because your policy has come up for renewal without having any prior consent from the policy holder first.

They should be allowed to automatically renew only if they are doing so for the same (or lower price) than the policy being renewed and the policy cover/small print has not changed and if the customer has been given a written reminder at least 4 weeks in advance to opt out free of charge by email and/or freephone telephone number. Changing the price or any element of the cover provided should require a new signed agreement from the customer.
  • Unmarried parents should not be rejected automatically. If NI payments are up to date and there are children to feed, what difference does it make financially if the couple were married or not?
  • Make it possible for people to order train tickets for a third party to collect from a ticket office. At moment if someone needs to purchase a train ticket at short notice for a family member or employee who lives in a different location they cannot do it as the person requires the payment card to collect it. This caused a lot of problems for people due to the bad weather and also for emergencies\family illness.
