debit card snob!

I used to like my morgan stanley card that had a bit of artwork that resembled the scottish flag, but when goldfish then barclays took over I was given a faceless corportate looking thing.
I liked my Saltire one, people commented on it when they'd not seen one before, so I can see what you mean by not liking your card's artwork. There are sad people online who have a website dedicated to what their cards look like.
Do the RSPCA still do credit cards that have pictures of kittens on them? Surely that's a good status symbol- I've got so much money I can afford to give the RSPCA my cashback.
You'd find the rich didn't get rich by giving their money away though.:D
RBS do a young person's account called Revolve, and you can use a picture of your own choice. Costs a fiver. You can also choose a picture from their library and that's free. You could put Martin on there and it'd scare you off spending.0 -
Just a point, but surely nobody sees your debit card now? You put it into the PIN machine yourself, take it back, job done.0

Yeah but the people in the queue behind you notice if you have something shiny or unique
... Or in my case notice if I have something with "VANQUIS" written on it. I wouldn't use it but I have to from time to time to build my credit score ...
I think the Barclaycard Goldfish is a really funky looking credit card.
Again, the Barclays Premier debit card is, IMO, very smart looking.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I couldn't give a monkeys what anybody in any queue thinks, they are just all boring bits of plastic to me.
Pay with cash if it bothers you.0 -

This thread is unbelievable LOL!!
I don't look at anyone elses card, or purse/wallet/bag for that matter!
Why anyone thinks others would be interested in the piece of plastic they hand over to pay for their items is beyond me!
Do those people check out everyone elses cards? Do you think 'ahh bless that poor soul' when someone hands over a solo or electron card???
Hahahaha, how sad!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I think you rather miss the point.
Vanquis Bank is becoming more and more widely known as the credit company you go to when no one else will give you a penny credit - and I use the card for one purpose only - to re-establish my credit rating - which can't be done with cash.
It does carry a stigma albeit very small, and occasionally I do get a glance as if to say "So who's got a horrendous credit rating, then?" when I hand it over - but as I say - I use it as a credit score building exercise.
Doesn't really bother me a great deal but it will be nice when I can get rid of the damn thing and replace it with something less widely regarded as a "bum's card".Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

If you want a "gold" or "platinum" card, apply for a "gold" or "platinum" credit card. Then, set up a DD to pay it off in full and on time every month.
Then you ( a ) have the colour of card you want, ( b ) get up to 45 days to pay what you spend, earning you interest all the while, and ( c ) benefit from s.75 protection on your purchases.

The AMEX Cashback card is plat in colour and no annual fee.
Might be worth a look, their is a dormancy charge if not used within 12months.
Good luck!0 -

Well, most people do not know anything about a Vanquis Card, but you are informing more people on here about them, and so what if you have a poor credit rating, does it really bother you what some stranger in a supermarket queue thinks?
It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.0
