debit card snob!
Comments
-
Hi
I have to admit I liked getting my gold natwest debit card out of wallet and using it when I went shopping... call me a snob or materialistic but i did....BUT ..... now they have sent me a replacement which i can only describe as vile!!
Its a purplely pink colour and looks cheap and nasty! I dislike this card so much I may move bank accounts!!
Is there any one who knows a bank that allows me to be snobby again and apply for an account that offers a gold debit card (with no monthly fee)
Thank you
PG
Shopkeepers really don't care what card you proffer them in order to complete your purchase, they merely care what time their next break is, or when they can go home.
If you think they even notice what card you give them, then you are sorely disillusioned.0 -
Hahaha, is this for real??
Why does it matter what the bloody card looks like ~ it's still going to get you what you want to purchase isn't it?
And do you think the people on the tills and behind you in the queue actually care about your card?
Do you think they look and go 'ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!'??
No, the people on the tills just want paying and the people in the queue just want you to hurry the fook up so they can get served!
I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life!
Cancelling accounts because the card isn't upto stratch.
Ha
ha
ha!!
Absolutely!
I wonder if the original poster wishes he hadn't bothered writing his original post now, since all they received in replies is grief and merrymaking!0 -
I used to like my morgan stanley card that had a bit of artwork that resembled the scottish flag, but when goldfish then barclays took over I was given a faceless corportate looking thing.
I liked my Saltire one, people commented on it when they'd not seen one before, so I can see what you mean by not liking your card's artwork. There are sad people online who have a website dedicated to what their cards look like.
Do the RSPCA still do credit cards that have pictures of kittens on them? Surely that's a good status symbol- I've got so much money I can afford to give the RSPCA my cashback.

Lol, status is everything for some people, and they do feel better when showing off a gold card, or a platinum card, or even a black debit card....in reality, no one cares....
is a black one posh then??0 -
I stayed in a VERY posh hotel recently and paid with my A&L Visa Debit. (its a full auth one, a bit battered due to *cough* excessive use
)
when I handed it over at check in, the receptionist looked baffled and studied it closely. There were other people checking in, and various gold and platinum cards being handed over - I felt a bit embarrassed at using it. However I used it in the Sainsbury's over the road and no-one batted an eyelid...
Did it work, I wonder how many of them Platinum and Gold cards didn't because they were maxed out.
I had a gold card when I was 20. In the end Natwest closed it because I never used it, bloody gimmick.
Yeah I got a gold credit card and the APR is 17.9% a year. That was about 8 years ago though.
Who cares what colour the card is as long as it works.
The only card that would ever impress me and I have only ever seen two is that exclusive American Express one that they only ever give to the mega rich. Think it is the black platinum one.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Guy's, the old "status symbol" fad is out, the Gold, Platinum, Standard tier is now a rate-bearing category i.e. the standard or classic card will attract a higher APR where the Gold will be lower.
Most have stopped branding cards in Gold and Platinum, most of them look the same and the good old Cheque guarantee system is finished and due to end permanently in 2011, banks have stopped issuing them to Wien customer off them so the full-fat Visa card with all the bells and whistles is dead, sorry to break the bad news to all you posers out their.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
What does it matter anyway? Most places now dont even take the card from you with chip and pin you just take the card out and pop it in the machine so nobody is going to see it.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

Your statement just proved our point! As long the card is offline type, then you can use it anywhere.
Full authorisation cards do occasionally cause problems....0
