Right, can any one help me with shipping a PC internationally?
For the UK, Ive decided to stick with payperparcel and PM(depending on how much insurance I want)
For the UK, Ive charged nothing(so for Europe and the rest of the world, Ive added £7)
For Europe, Ive charged £25 to send a PC(at £100 insurance) and for the rest of the world, Ive charged £85
Ive decided on so far, to send a PC either by ppp or by parcel2go for international destinations
Because Im selling PC's, I am able to keep the compensation level of the overall computer low, as its made of many components. e.g.:
for say £300-£400 PC's, I may only want £50 insurance
For £600-£800, I may want £100 insurance
etc... etc...0 -

Hi waqasamed
Have you seen how these two work out for your sizes weights and values for rest of world? I use them both before PB came on the scene and had no problems.

and

Transglobal do seem to be very cheap(about £50-£60) for rest of the world delivery, however they dont seem to offer any compensation? Ill have a look at worldwide-parcelservices and comment as well
For Europe delivery, I think Ill stick with PPP and P2G as they seem cheaper to most places
EDIT: WPS seem to be VERY expensive, for any where. Unless of course, with UK they include the "channel islands" that is
Hmmm... Had a look at transglobal, for Australian delivery(though I doubt Ill get any buyers from their)And they sayPersonal effects consignments shipped with DHL may be subject to a charge for customs clearance processing of AU$165 payable at destination. We recommend completing an Australian customs form as well as a packing list and a photocopy of the photo page on your passport, all to be handed to the driver on collection. A quarantine charge of approximately AU$45 may also occur.
Ive heard of Australians being really strict with food imports, but not with electronics! Fair enough, a $165 custom charge would be imposed on the buyer, but I think the buyer would know that(its a bit hefty at AU$165) Not only that, but also a quarantine charge of $45 may occur
Damn!
And I thought we were ripped off here0 -

There are a lot of definitions of Personal Effects but i take them in this instance to mean clothes, jewellery, wallets etc - those things that you have about you and in the case of Australia specifically associated with immigration - hence the request for passport page.. I cannot see one new computor falling into this category - a pallet full of all your wordly household goods yes.
I regularly send single items of electrical goods without any drama.0 -
Ah, that does make sense. After watching border force programs, Im guessing used electronic goods such as used fridges, used microwaves etc... would attract such a charge if properly declared. Also, Im less likely to try and use some of the larger couriers to international countries(such as DHL) because apparently, they are very likely to pass on a customs charge0

Hi rich130867 and welcome to MSE.
Some details would help me look into your case please.
I am obviously not having much luck with Parcel Monkey.
Copy of my mail below from this afternoon, this after trying the phone again for an hour, and the 'livehelp' which does not work.
Once again I have missed collections.
The 4 parcels due out Friday were not taken, and the 9 due out today are still here?
Please, please can you again try and sort this out.
thanks
Richard

Kayster, I rang Transglobal today(via a geographic number
) They said they dont give compensation-and I would have to get third party insurance company. They gave me a company, who charged about £35 insurance-along witha £50-£60 postal cost from transglobal.
I think Ill stick with
PPP&PM for UK deliveries
P2G for UK islands, Scottish highlands and Northern Ireland
P2G and PPP for Europe
P2G for the rest of the world
And if I ever need to:
PM for large/heavy goods to mainland UK0 -
