Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

I know we've moaned and whined about the problems but I would like to say Thank You to all the Courier Drivers and the online parcel booking agents who have worked so hard throughout the year.:T
Without the online booking agents we would not have access to the fantastic rates that are available to us at the worlds best carriers.
I'm not going to mention any names but my XYX courier driver has struggled everyday through the snow to collect parcels and tells me some days he has 120 collections and drops to do - that takes some doing even in good conditions.
If I had a Christmas wish it would be that the online booking agents stop posting here either as disgruntled fake customers of their competitors or fake happy customers of their own services. Its easy to spot and just makes you look dodgy.
Heres to a Peaceful and Plentiful 2010
Kayster.

Hi, soon I am going to start selling clothing through ebay as a small business. Previously I have used RM recroded delivery for sending items I have sold like unwanted dvd's ect. I have had a few things go missing or no signatures being collected ect. Is there another courier I can use which is the same price or cheaper than RM? Or are RM the cheapest for recorded delivery items?0

for items under 2kg,without selling in large volumes,rm are the cheapest. If you have a contract, businesspost may be your best bet0

Hello, I want to return a £120 5kg 22" LCD PC monitor bought by mail-order. I was looking for a returns service and payperparcel seems cheap (£8, does that sound right?) whereas parcelforce seems about £20. But when I read the smallprint in the terms and conditions it seems contradictory:
"Damaged / Lost Claims
Each service comes with a limited amount of Transit cover up to the value of £100 except the before 10AM service which is £500".
Insurance
Standard services include £100.00, Diamond ones (Next day before 10) are £500.00. This option is available in the booking step 3 of the Pay Per Parcel automated service.
later
"Total liability to you in all respects, and for any type of loss, cost or damage howsoever arising will be limited to £50 per consignment unless you have purchased additional transit cover through us, where the limit of liability will be the cover purchased at the time of ordering."
Is it £100 or £50? Does anyone have any experience with them or can suggest anyone better?
Also as regards packaging, would returning it in it's original packing be adequate (singled walled box with contents illustrated on it, polystyrene holders either end). Some couriers say worrying things like must be able to withstand 3ft drop!0 -
Have been rechecking Parcelbee's service. In their FAQ they say nothing about payment method, so had to do a dummy order to find out.
Ist remark: They use a 3rd party form filling site, so I was a little concerned about security. It turns out that they simply accept Paypal and that's it (for non-Paypal members, most probably can enter card details here). So long as it all happens in Paypal's site, this would be OK with me.
Now, Parcelbee's prices look very tempting and PB even offer collection and worldwide services, too good to be true?
Also, is it true that unlike most carriers, PB will let you know when collection will be and this may well not be next-day?
Thinking of trying PB but it means changing our Wholesale P&P prices in advance to tailor to the lower costs, so I don't want to switch around often.
If any more people with a med/long MSE history (no brand-newbies, please and we all know why) could post their Parcelbee experience here, it would be handy.0 -

Heres mine - i've used since they appeared about 2 months ago. Its allways been UPS who collect (who are my favourite courier so that suits me) Payment is only by paypal - that suits me as well. Courier has always come even during the bad weather but that isnt parcelbee that UPS.
I send some heavy stuff to odd places. Lithuania , Taiwan, Hong Kong and if you see what most compnaies charge to send 14kg to these places they are in a class of their own.
I wouldnt alter your prices as one day they might not be there and you will be altering again.
There are two drawback i see - one is the 9am cut off and that seems to be rigidly applied and the other is they email labels in the morning - mine usually arrive between 5am and 9 am. I worry my printer might fail or some other computing hitch and I will be unable to print for some reason but i'm willing to accept this small risk as the prices are so good.
To sum up you get the service exactly as on the website and no need to put in sizes only weights.0 -
Didn't know they were so new, that's pause for thought. Thanks for the detailed review!0

My experience has been similar to Kayster's, although I've only used them a handful of times. I don't like receiving the labels in the morning but the prices make that small inconvenience worthwhile. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Kayster, I think its best that I do alter my prices now as European buyers may be impressed with the prices because of the low delivery charges.0
