arg im being massacred today lol

all im saying is that if you are unsure about the website (and if it is a low value item), you are better off using paypal i believe (i gave my opinion here, so please do not state i am brainwashed :p )

my point is, if someone were to steal your credit card number (for example, if you were to type your number on a fake website), then this person could quickly go on an online shopping spree with your card, and receive the goods before you realise it. of course if this happens, your card issuer might be able to help you out (probably lots of hassle).

it's not so much losing the £6.50 which is the issue, its the compromise of your credit card details. on paypal nobody can see these.

i think Visa are the only ones who help you for orders under £100, whereas all the others (amex, mastercard) are only obliged if over £100 (maybe some issuing banks differ).

on the other hand, i know paypal charge a lot to receive money

I had a large parcel to send, was originally going to send it via Royal Mail Standard parcels. Took it to the Post Office who wouldnt take it as it was too heavy (bah) and said take it to a bigger one. Having a bit of time to think about it and not being too convinced about the safety of RM in general I had a look at couriers after seeing this thread. Decided on collectmyparcel.com, which was about £12 (parcel was about 13kg and fairly big) was picked up yesterday - after reading this thread I had convinced myself they wouldn't come heh - at 13:47, delivered today at 12.09. Although the person who signed for it isn't who it was addressed to which hopefully isn't a bad sign.

I'm not going to make a habit of using these couriers after all the horror stories but I have to say for the price I'm pretty impressed - that's of course a) its not broken now and b) its actually got to who it was meant to!

Only one slight thing is the invoice, it says invoiced to "Think Courier" who I assume are the parent company of collectmyparcel? These think pirates dont seem to have good reviews at all, I must have been lucky

Why bother to post then? i remember parcel monkey raving about themselves lol Yes, and it did them so much good, didn't it?

well, scam or not, I don't think they are a scam, I have used them a couple of times myself including only yesterday - I just hate spammy spammers; it really turns me off a company. they accept paypal as do most couriers  which in my opinion is much safer than standard CC.

Am sending some Christmas gifts to son in Canada - nothing expensive - and after reading through all the excellent advice here have booked parcelbee for tommorrow.

Just to update on service (no affiliation to anyone, anywhere). My parcel arrived safely but did take 2 weeks via UPS. No problems with that as it was still in time for Christmas but might not suit someone needing a speedy delivery.
Had a couple of scary moments whilst tracking it though, such as when it appeared to get stuck in transit through Canada with the comment
"POWER OF ATTORNEY DOCUMENTATION IS MISSING AND IS REQUIRED FOR CLEARANCE".
I emailed UPS to ask what this meant and got the following reply
"Per Canadian law, the receiver of the package must file a Power of Attorney form, giving the Broker the legal right to act on their behalf. As such, Canadian Customs will not allow UPS, or any other broker, to clear a shipment without this form.”
I sat tight and waited for a few days and it magically progressed on its merry way without any intervention. Phew. Not sure my nerves could cope with this again - or maybe the answer is not to follow the tracking info too closely?

In summary, parcelbee did their job fine, UPS a bit slow and misleading.
  • After reviewing the forum's recently I decided to choose ParcelBee to deliver my Xmas packages to the US and Bedforshire.

Making the order was pretty straight forward, but they didn't collect on the scheduled day (22nd Dec), I waited all day but no one showed up. I emailed them this morning to enquire and they said that UPS tried to deliver and were unsuccessuful but they had scheduled a redelivery for today (23rd) between 9am and 6pm without consulting me. I asked them to give me a delivery time (as I couldn't afford another day waiting around) or a refund. They told me they do not give refunds for failed deliveries. This I find strange because I did not leave the apartment all day. When I asked why UPS had not rung the buzzer or left a calling card they said they would email UPS to find out, but later refunded the money tgo my Paypal account with no email or explanation.

Their customer service is pretty poor and is made worse because you can only speak to them via email. I also saw on a previous post that you can specifically request your courier, which I did (DHL), but the request was not acknowledged and was ignored.

ParcelBee are best to be avoided in my opinion.

I'm not sure which other delivery service to use now. Has anyone had any good feedback from using Transglobal Express recently?

I asked this question as well lol
I think unless you are a volume customer, then you could use UK business, TNT etc... that use RM for the last mile. However none of these companies resell I believe, same with RM. So basically, you're stuck
