  • Has anyone got any experience of posting to Europe from the Scottish Highlands? Most companies, including ParcelMonkey, add a hefty surcharge. Most of my parcels will be around 2-5kg, anything lighter than this and I'm happy to use Royal Mail.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim.

    DHL to sell UK parcel operations to Home Delivery Network. Deal set to complete in a matter of weeks;

No, no no. That means that eBayers(and those with sites that accept paypal) will no longer use DHL or HDN as there is no tracking to give to paypal, and if you have to go to small claims etc..., theres other factors to bring in such as loss of revenue and the hassle

Hopefully, PayPal will allow HDN tracking!

How much are you wanting to pay? You said hefty surcharges, how hefty is hefty?

Well PB charge you £14. Id say they're the cheapest around for any parcel over 2kg or any parcel between 1-2kg, worth less than £50
  • Thanks, ParcelsPlease charge £11.50 to France/Belgium/Germany but I've read a few bad reviews.

That's quite cheap. Ill just see what their insurance covers.

EDIT: They're owned or affiliated with boxby.co.uk and they wont use couriers that PayPal will accept for tracking
Unlike CCL logistics(also has links to boxby), you cant really put insurance up cheaply
  • I've bought something from the USA on eBay. The seller is willing to work with me if I can find a cheaper delivery service than the one they are offering:
US $71.20 for 15lb via USPS Priority Mail International

Does anyone have any advice in this situation?

    Thanks,

    Alan

Contact parcelbee for import services. £25 to send a parcel from the UK is roughly $40, but I dont know how much an import service would cost

    Heres what they say

This service will collect your parcel from anywhere & deliver the parcel to anywhere.
Each parcel sent on this service comes with a massive £50.00 worth of free insurance.
Collections & deliverys are made between 8am -6pm Monday - Friday only.
You may have to print a label to use this service.
Your parcel may be collected & delivered by either DHL,FEDEX,PARCELFORCE,TNT or UPS.
You will be informed via email of the collection & Delivery company.
The max size of any one parcel is 120cm X 60cm X 60cm
The max weight of any one parcel is 30kg

Quoted from here You could probably request more insurance if you need it, I suppose. BTW, 15lbs is 6.8kg, in case you didnt know and if you need to ask parcelbee if theres a cheaper service available to send a 6.8kg parcel to you. Do be aware though when buying from the USA, you will have to pay
    17.5% VAT on the total(incl. shipping fees)[x*1.175]
A handling fee(RM charge £8, others will charge differently) Its best to ring UPS up in the UK to let you know the handling fees charges involved

If they send by USPS, I think it gets handed over to royalmail, so you know for definite that the handling fee will be £8. Also, I dont know if this is true or not, but Ive heard your handling fee may be waived if you tell the carrier before your parcel reaches customs.

In the US, they do use UPS and FedEx a lot-they're like parcelforce to those guys, so your seller shouldnt have too many problems using a UPS carrier

CCL and Parcels Please are the same company. Parcels Please is the online trading division of Consolidated Carriers Ltd (CCL). Both have the same company number, details etc, all of which are available on the website.

Boxby has no ownership or Interest in CCL/ParcelsPlease. Boxby deals with non-parcel deliveries (ie big and bulky, non packable stuff).
