    Hi Moneysavers!

I have a specific postage requirement and am looking for some info/advice for delivery services if anyone can help?

I'm looking to send aquatic livestock (snails!) on a same day or overnight service. I expect to have parcels most weekdays so an account with someone would be handy, but as people are paying only a couple of £ per snail, they won't be likely to spend more than about £4 or £5 on postage. The boxes are small (less than 10cm square) and weigh less than 50g each on average.
Can anyone recommend a courier/parcel service that will accomodate these requirements?

    Thanks in advance

tbh the terms and conditions of virtually all carriers exclude any form of livestock. I have PMd you with details of a carrier I know that will take and insure livestock under certain conditions.

Marine Cargo do not offer insurance on lost or damaged items. Solely stolen items which interparcel would have covered.

Surely there is a broker/underwriter that cover such things?

Assuming you are not sending items to Nigeria or similar.
Assuming you are not so finely financed that the loss of a laptop would wipe you out and mean you would not eat for a month - and i ,m not sure even that applies given the amount of time any claim would take to pay out you are always better off paying for the odd loss out of your back pocket yourself.
Use a "proper" carrier to guard against loss , watch the tracking details daily to see a problem developing, pack very well to guard against damage and put the money you would spend on insurance in a jar and watch it grow. I do this and have saved a fortune over the last 5 years.
  • My son needs to send a bike (second hand) from Scotland back to home address in England. What cheapest/safest option here?
  • I've used parcel monkey once and had no problems. I need to arrange a couple more deliveries and intend on using them again, however I can't find the info or recall. Is there anyway to allocate a time slot for my collection? Or perhaps ask for it to be collected before or after a specific time?

    No, I don't think so.
