As Interparcel have no couriers that cover this, is there any cheaper parcel company that cover such items? Or is there a external insurance policy that I can take out to cover items that I send through Interparcel regardless?
It may well be worth talking to a good broker about getting a shipping policy, can't remember the exact name for it, I know it's something that sounds really old fashioned and comes from the days of blokes in wigs in coffee shops and sails boats.
We used to send out antiques, glass, ceramics etc, worldwide, and same as you outside the terms of most of the carriers insurance policy. We paid for a policy which cost us about £100 per year, but it covered all items, in shipment/transit, but air, sea, plane, van etc. Loss, damage etc. It was a very good policy for us, we never even used it (cos our packaging was just that good!!) but it did let me sleep at night when sending out items worth several thousands of pounds worldwide.
I will now go and think of its proper name.......0 -
Marine Cargo Insurance. That's it. Applies just as equally to stuff in vans & planes.0

Wonderful! I will check them out. I would assume it works the same way I use a third part insurer for rental cars. I always reject the rental cars policy and go with mine which is £112 worldwide and cover up to £1mm in damage.0 -
It would indeed be nice to find a courier that insures stuff like monitors, laptops etc.... I have monitors worth £100ish and might be thinking of selling laptops as well for £300-£10000

There are some that will cover it, depending on packaging etc. If you are sending a lot the best way to deal with this is to talk with a carrier and get a trade account set up, and then go through their procedures to get your packaging inspected and approved.
We used to have all our glass etc covered by Parcelforce, but you need to go through the process properly.0 -
Hi, this is not really about e baying but I am looking for some help.
I need to post some clothes parcels to an orphanage in SA. Royal Mail charge £12 for 2 kilos land mail.
Does anyone know of a cheaper way to send it. Speed is not an issue.
Thanks0 -
I have been reading the posts on here, and have got a bit confused with what people are recommending. I have to send a parcel to the USA. It weighs 5kg, and has dimentions of about 40x20x37....it needs to get there before Christmas, and I would love to pay less than the £68 which Royal Mail quoted! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!Best 2018 wins: £1500, £500 John Lewis voucherBest 2019 wins: 18 of the latest DVDsBest 2020 wins: £100 cash 2021 wins: 130 books 2021 wins: Jubilee silver necklace 2023: 8xfootball shirts, Spar vouchers, £200 Tesco voucher,0
