Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

FedEx came just now.Waiting to see how everything goes. Would definitely be interested in parcelbee.
Just wondering, when lowcostparceldelivery.com were around, did they have UPS as a courier? Im not wanting parcelbee to be run by the same management as LCPD. They also had the price cheap up to 30kg, so a little skeptical. I suppose Ive got payperparcel to fall back on-their customer representatives seem nice anyway, when I queried something with them0 -
hey guys
I want to try out parcelbee, their email support is very fast and they just seem to cheap to be true. I mean 48 hour delivery to finland for 12.99, the best quote i got to match that is almost double that!
Are they the real deal, can they be trusted or will my items just get lost?
Any help guys!!
Thanks!0 -
Not too sure tbh. If they do decide to run off with your money, then it wont be for some time I think. With LCPD, I was insured up to £100, but I got my money back and the cost of insurance after a very angry email-though I had to pay FedEx £14 to send the parcel back to me
Another reason why I think they're the same as LCPD is because they have thought of a name similar to another well known site. Months back, lowcostparceldelivery.co.uk(aka interparcel) was highly recommended on these and eBay forums. Then a site popped up called lowcostparceldelivery.com and failed to deliver(pun not intended) Now a lot of people are recommending parcelmonkey, though the views are mixed and a site called parcelbee pops up. Coincidence?
Can anyone here request for a FedEx pick up? Last time I used LCPD, it said on behalf of allelectricia and for some other allelectricalsavings on the barcoded receipt that is given by FedEx. With parcelmonkey, when they picked my items up, I got a FedEx receipt, but it said nothing where it said "on behalf of", though Im a bit skeptical about PM as well. Parcel2go have always had awesome customer service(well at least when I email them) Others have other views about them. I will try parcelbee and if they dont do a runner, Ill continue using them and if parcelmonkey are any good I might use them if indeed PB do, do a runner. Then ppp and p2g0 -

I personally would never deal with a company that doesn't state who you are legally dealing with, and has no telephone number. Legal pages say nothing more than "parcelbee". Not a ltd company, no personal details. etc. So who's you're contract with because "parcelbee" doesn't exist as a legal entity?
Also, there's no VAT, which means that you're dealing with either a brand new start up (as the website build seems to indicate) or a company so small that it's not turning over £69k pa.
And if you look at FAQ, claims for expensive items need to be made within 3 days of date of despatch - that looks like the ultimate never pay out small print. (Picked up Friday, delivered broken on Monday - Sorry! too late!)
But that's just my personal impressions. Reality may be different.
It's a bit like I tell me hubby, never buy hot food from a place that doesn't have running water.0 -
I understand your concerns, but if a reputable company like DHL etc come to pick up the item, then the courier and delivery will be done with them. The risk of the item being damaged is just a risk you take unless you dont take out insurance?

Point is, your contract isn't with DHL, your contract is with parcelbee, their contract is with DHL. DHL have no accountability to you, only to the reseller.
I had a poor experience with a DHL reseller who frequently "forgot" to make the parcel bookings. So, next day, "oh, i'm sorry it was missed, DHL's fault, i'll book it again for today" etc etc etc.
So, as far as i'm concerned, the credibility of the reseller is the MOST important, because that's the person that i'm dealing with, they're the one i'm paying, they're the ones submitting the claim form if anything goes wrong.0 -

I'm new to this so this is all informative for me. If DHL have picked the parcel up then it's their responsibility, if the item is damaged or lost then it would be up to parcelbee to sort out any issues. I'm guessing 9 times out of 10 DHL would deliver?0 -
The contracts follow the money. Your contract is with parcelbee, you pay parcelbee. Parcelbee are a reseller.
Yes 9/10 DHL will deliver (probably actually about 8 to 8.5) without any problems. But parcelbee have to book the collection (which they may or maynot do - in my instance with the DHL reseller it was frequently maynot!). Parcelbee have to action any claims, losses, damages etc, deal with any delays etc. You have no direct line of action for any claim with DHL, and if push came to shove, DHL wouldn't actually talk to you about your delivery/claim etc.
Under special insurance rules for shipping, parcelbee can offer you DHL insurance without getting in an "agent" situation. But as parcelbee is still DHL's customer they need to submit the claim, DHL pay out to them, parcelbee payout to you.
Same applies to any reseller, including P2G, Interparcel, and the like, not making any comments here specifically about parcelbee. My issue with parcelbee was mostly because they don't tell you who you are legally dealing with, and in my books there is no (legitmate) excuse or reason for that.0 -
Also. As has happened with a number of the smaller resellers. If the reseller goes bust, or has serious liabilities to the carrier, the carrier can impound YOUR parcels until the reseller has cleared the debt.
This was an issue with a number of companies that had parcel accounts and were using them as reselller accounts without appropriate authority from the carrier.0 -
