From January 2012 DHL will control the price at which their services are sold online which will result in a significant increase so if you use DHL you might need to revisit your pricing.

most likely because they have Yodel for the cheaper end and want to segregate the products

I was just going to ask, why has DHL disappeared from all my usual broker sites. This explains it. This is totally going to bite them in the !!! I can guarantee it, if they are not competitive no-one cares who they are. I have had good results with DHL the last few months and I get regular shipments through pay per parcel or world wide parcel services with them.

Oh well, I will go to parcel monkey instead and use UPS at the risk of getting a remote fee charged to me (but seriously whos gonna go through all the paper work....). Yep thats right, DHL = no remote fee, all other couriers I get a remote fee. Go figure. Why one company doesn't deem my address remote but the others do is a strange one.

It is the european services that seem to have disappeared which is still DHL, nothing to do with yodel afaik.

Have a search for a local APC courier close to you. My local one would charge approx. £10-£12 and thats COD too. Worth looking into.

There doesnt seem to be anyway of getting a price from the website which is off putting.
Their terms say you pay the first £50 of any insurance claim which isnt good either.

You can get Parcelforce via Paypal for £11.99 as long as it isn't oversize, you can get up to about £5 off that on various reseller sites, you can book that direct from your Ebay page, so your buyer can see the tracking and the costs too.

  • A couple of weeks ago I asked for help in shipping a parcel to the US. I got great responses and went with Kaysters suggestion of transglobal. They have been excellent and I have now send several parcels with them quite successfully.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help I got, it was really appreciated.

    Have a great new year,

    Lin
