Thanks for your help guys! Yes, £6,99 is too expensive.
I will be keeping an eye on PayPound, thanks!
What about some of the big names like FedEx, DHL, etc. are they expensive?
And how do you go direct!? :-)
Your help is much appreciated!

With regards to the DHL predicament, the service I used to pay £18.99 for is now £80 on every site. WOW.
How soon before DHL realise they have made a monumental mistake? Their warehouses must be like ghost towns right now.
Every other courier is cheaper than them, even Fed Ex and that is really saying something!
I am going UPS from now on, I hope they don't cash in on DHL's mistake and put their prices up. If they do I will start my own courier service!Practise safe sex, make love in a Volvo

Can I un recommend myparceldelivery.com. I may have mentioned them on another thread or two, unfortunately it appears when something goes wrong they don't have the infrastructure to fix it. We currently have two claims, one that I was told had been paid by the courier some 4 weeks ago yet I still haven't been refunded, the other has barely been acknowledged and is already into its second month.
They may win awards but it isn't for customer service. They sit back and blame the couriers that's if they ever respond..0 -
Can anyone shed some light on which companies charge a fee if something is booked and the driver turns up but no one is available.
Have heard there is a charge but searching some of the couriers FAQ's but not finding such info0 -

You should check the Terms and Conditions as well. FAQs aren't necessarily part of the contract. You don't tick an "I read the FAQ" box when you place your order0 -

Ok smarty....point taken, however I should have mentioned I had read a few T&C's and many were not clear on what would happen.
Some for example were crystal clear, ie Gwizz with their citylink service clearly state the charge but their UPS service is not so clear.
Just thought someone might know of a courier that 100% will not charge in the event of missing them, if they exist.0 -
I can say collectmyparcel.com definitely do not charge to re-book a collection if you're not in when they attempt. I don't know how many times you can do that though?0

Their terms say :
Please ensure you are in at the collection time that you request. A surcharge of up to 100% of the original charge may be applied if you are out when the driver attempts to collect.
See what I mean, it 'may' be applied, to me that's not a proper term, they either charge or they dont.
That's the problem with these middle men companies, they seem to write open terms as they use various couriers whose terms are likely to differ0
