I used Parcel2go on Monday, who in turn used Collect+

When I was booking, Parcel2go asked for the value of the parcel, and I put £60...I was asked if I wanted to pay £2+vat to insure it against loss/damage,,,,,,,I agreed to pay this....

On looking on the Collect+ website, I notice they(Collect+) automatically insure their parcels for £50....which would have done.....

I feel Parcel2go have ripped me/my buyer off here(the buyer paid the postage)...........so next time i will look at this in my quotes from other companies....

Parcel2go, wont refund me, saying Collect+ dont give them the £50 insurance included

This is correct, Middle men don't receive liability from any of the couriers they use, its down to them to provide it themselves as the are the courier
  • Hi does anyone know if any carriers will insure a new iPad from the UK to Spain?

iPad box has never been opened so is being shipped in the same packaging that they come in from the shop.

    Thanks in advance.

most of the major couriers would cover it internationally

Here is my tale, make of it what you will. As I am not allowed to state what I truly feel, I'll leave that up to your interpretation.

Last week I booked with P2G to collect a parcel using Hermes as the carrier. The pick-up date was Friday.

Come 6.30pm, there is no show by the carrier.

I decide to call P2G, but there is a message on their website say, "Sorry, we have closed early because we are all out a jolly" or words to that effect. I am incensed as I have wasted a whole day waiting for a collection!

Saturday morning and I contact their offices via their weird 'Chat' system. I now see why they use this as it means the poor minions that operate their call centres do not have to listen to angry or irate customers.

I state quite clearly that as they have not collected the parcel, I do not want to use their services and I want a refund, preferably as fast as they took the money off me. I get the run around that it takes 24-48 hours at least.

I subsequently learn that they actually have a Refund Department. Why would a company want a Refund Department, unless it had to make a huge volume of refunds to disgruntled customers?

I now get an email from a pr*t called Peter Chandler from P2G full of platitudes and a very patronizing attitude, stating that rather than refund my money, they want to offer me a crediit in a personal account. I stated that I did not want a credit as I had no intention of using this bunch of muppets ever again. I would go back to my regular carriers who have never let me down, even though they cost a little more..

Today, I see another email has arrived from Mr Pr*t asking the same questions, did I really want a refund when I could have credit in an account.

It has been over 120 hours since I cancelled the original order.

I have yet to recieve a refund.

I see on the internet a whole gamut of people have had the misfortune to use P2G and when the company has failed to perform, have had to waste considerable efforts to get back their funds, if at all.

I know many people will chime up that they have only ever had good service from this company, even I can say that I have used this business on two previous occassions, without mishap, but the true proof of how good a company is, is when things go wrong. So far, P2G fail on quite a few levels.

I'll leave you readers to make comment on the performance levels of this business. Happy to take your money, not so quick to give it back when it cannot cut the mustard.

To anybody thinking about using these jokers, I would certainly think twice.

I have been leaving further comments on Facebook and Twitter should you find this tale intriguing. P2G never publish negative reviews on their website and doctor comments on Facebook and Twitter to ensure they appear unblemished.

  • HI I HAVE SOME CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND SOMEONE RECOMMENDED A WEBSITE parcelparrot.co.uk , THEY SAID IT IS A COURIER COMPARISM SITE JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS USED THEM BEFORE?
  • Just thought I'd mention thepackagedeliverycompany were unable to deliver my last 2 parcels and I had to go to DHL Depot to retrieve them. I had to pay DHL a fee to get my parcels back aswell. DHL told me they will not deliver anything for the packagedeliverycompany anymore. They did tell me why but I best not post it :)

Got them resent with payperparcel who so far have been brilliant (until they put their prices up for Christmas that is!) so now I might jump ship to parcel2ship lol, nice having a choice isn't it :)

  • Some time ago I received a delivery from Amazon and in it was a card advertising ParcelAnt, stating they would deliver up to 30kg. UK to UK for £8.95.
The first time I used them all (relatively) well and good - they couldn't arrange collection for the specific day I wanted so arranged for the day after. By means of apology they gave me discount.
On the second occasion, a similar thing happened. However, because I was sending close on 25kg. I stuck with it. On each occasion they said it was down to the courier they used (ParcelAnt is apparently a trading name of Orange Pharmacy, which is where the product I ordered from Amazon originated from, with Amazon fulfilling it).
Most recently I needed a 9kg. box picking up from an address. After the problems I had experienced before I left an extra day gap for the collection, only to be informed by e-mail to ask if they could collect next day! I made arrangements and replied yes, only to be informed later the same day that it would be the original day I had wanted. However, they didn't collect on the next day (okay, they weren't due to), but neither did they collect on the BOOKED day. E-mailed them - no reply. They didn't collect on the day after, OR the day after. E-mailed again, no reply. As the following day was a Sunday I didn't expect them and by which time I made arrangements for it to be transported by another company. HOWEVER, someone DID arrive on Monday afternoon!
Needless to say they were told it had gone (by which time it had, thank you Interparcel.com) but then I noticed on my bank statement that they had charged me at the end of the previous week!

The moral? ParcelAnt provides a shambles of a service - I only hope they receive a discount on the goods they send using YODEL as the service THEY try to provide is rubbish. I'm STILL waiting for a reply regarding the refund of my service fee.

I work in the industry and i would advise to try and use the company direct rather than through a 3rd party, everything's fine until something goes wrong or missing.

Remember the carrier is not liable its the middle man.

if anyone would like unbiased advice let me know.
Really the only affordable direct courier to book through for next day delivery is https://www.streetwisedeliver.com, who are an APC overnight franchisee, so can pass your order onto another franchise if you're not in their area, and APC are my favourite couriers in the winter, they aren't afraid of the snow!!!

And if you've got a heavy parcel they can be a bargain as they deliver up to 20kg for the same price, £14.39 inc VAT

Does anyone know where I can get a courier for a large parcel to Greece? I reckon the parcel will only be about 160cm x 50 cm x 40 cm at 12Kg. It's a car bodykit. Would anyone have a rough ball park figure?

Really struggling to find a courier :( Most seem to be max 150 cm length and other couriers for large sizes seem to be UK only :(

UPS are the only ones that will send oversize items AFAIK, it wont be pretty the price, but it will get there atleast. The problem is that your volumetric weight = 50kg, so most will say no automatically as the weight limit is 31. But as I say, UPS will do it.
