    Ok, so I sent a parcel via PayPerParcel (PPP) who sent City Link to collect the parcel. The driver got my signature, I took the tracking number and then he left. There is no sign of the collection on the City Link tracking and now today I get a message that the collection has been cancelled by the sender. What do I do? Has the driver stolen my parcel? It is to my understanding that PPP is using City Link temporarily until Yodels backlog clears.

    I can't contact PPP because their offices and phone lines are closed until Monday :(

    Alarming as it may be. it could just be a scanning error by City Link, it has happened to me before. Keep an eye on the tracking during the evening. The status may well change when it reaches the delivery depot.

    You could try phoning the city link delivery office on Saturday and ask if they can confirm its with them, they may well answer their phone as the depot will be open for Saturday deliveries

    I have copied and pasted the info below from Parcel Monkeys website hope it helps

    What does the status displayed mean?

    Some status messages in the City Link system are not self explanatory, here is some information to help you understand the status of your parcel if you have one of the more cryptic statuses:

    "Cancelled by account holder" - If for any reason your parcel does not get collected on the scheduled date, City link's internal system automatically cancels the job. We did not cancel your collection. If this is the current status of your parcel, please contact our support team who will be happy to reschedule the collection for you.

    Out of interest l just compared the following parcel spec with the following sites and was suprised at the big difference in prices particualry when City Link would be the courier

    Parcel 2kg 50cm x 40cm x 5cm

    Lowest Next Day Quotes

    PPP = £7.37 + VAT

    PM = £4.85 + VAT (Mailing bag) £5.85 + VAT (Parcel)

    P2GO = £5.80+ VAT

    Certainly pays to look around

    I'd guess that the first quote is for up to 20-30kg too. 2kg parcel could be cheaper with Royal Mail standard parcels.

    How can they reschedule collection if the parcel has already been collected? :(

    I really do hope it's just a scanning error and the parcel hasn't been lost or stolen. I've used Parcel Monkey & PPP many times in the past and it's the first time I've had a problem like this where it appears the parcel has NOT been collected even though it has and then the collection has been cancelled the next day.

    Also, the main reason I chose PPP was because I needed a sameday collection service which PM didn't have.
  • On a different note, Payperparcels prices have suddenly gone from £18.99 which I have been paying all year, to (brace yourself) £23.99!! Must be to cash in on the Christmas trade and the people who only send parcels in December. Doesn't really help us frequent customers though does it? Very cheeky!

    Vote with your feet, or give them a call and see what they can do for you if you have sufficient volume for them to want to keep you as a customer?

    Just been notified of a price hike by Yodel which comes into effect later this week. Not sure how many resellers this will effect as we were on a fairly low rate, but our increase is just under 20% and I'm assuming it will affect others too.

    I'd already made a decision to stop using them, so their timing was impeccable!

    Interesting. Which side of Yodel have you been using what was HDNL or what was DHL UK?

    Do yourself a favour and don't switch to City-Link. I've had 2 failed collections out of the last 3. I know we're getting into the busy Christmas period but they've pee'd me right off.
