I used Parcel2go on Monday, who in turn used Collect+

When I was booking, Parcel2go asked for the value of the parcel, and I put £60...I was asked if I wanted to pay £2+vat to insure it against loss/damage,,,,,,,I agreed to pay this....

On looking on the Collect+ website, I notice they(Collect+) automatically insure their parcels for £50....which would have done.....

I feel Parcel2go have ripped me/my buyer off here(the buyer paid the postage)...........so next time i will look at this in my quotes from other companies....

Parcel2go, wont refund me, saying Collect+ dont give them the £50 insurance included
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I feel you may not be entitled to a refund as my understanding is that you entered an agreement/contract with P2G and not Collect+. I would have thought however that in the interest of customer service P2G should refund the £2+vat rather than lose a customer.

Perhaps you need to vote with your feet as it were, have alook at other companies i.e. Parcel Monkey / Parcel Force

No, Parcel2Go asked you how much the item was worth and offered you insurance to make sure the full value of the item was covered.

Consider the alternative scenario - you send the item and it becomes lost or damaged. You then discover you can only claim £50 for the item (or worse, are not insured at all - I don't know the details of Collect+'s scheme, but for example Royal Mail sometimes are funny about claims for a part-value). You would then be complaining that P2Go had not made sure you were adequately insured.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I do think that £2 + VAT is expensive though for the cover.

  • Hi does anyone know if any carriers will insure a new iPad from the UK to Spain?

iPad box has never been opened so is being shipped in the same packaging that they come in from the shop.

    Thanks in advance.
  • There would most likely be nobody who would insure it internationally

Yes, thats possibly what I will do, or at least make sure next time that the insurance terms arent inferior....

The value of the items was only £50, however the guy paid me £8 for postage as well, thats why I said £60, but regardless of that, I tried later and to up it from the £20 to £50(the same as Collect+) was the same £2 + vat as well, so although I accept your point, in this case the amount didnt really matter as they still seem to have charged me £2+vat for something that is already included in Collect+'s price.....

How is it included in Collect+'s price? Your contract is with P2Go, so the insurance is whatever that contract says.

I use this quite a bit, its a money saver for me. As long as the item fits into a 40x50cm mailing bag and weighs less than 10kg you only pay £4.85 +vat a great price if you compare it to Royal Mails Standard Parcel for weights over 2kg and 99% of the time it will be delivered Next Day compared to RM's 2-3day delivery

And if you send >10 per week, the price is £4.50+VAT :D

The only down side is that you do tend to get more "issues" with courier delivery than with Royal Mail, either due to the courier or due to dozy buyers who order courier delivery (I offer a choice) but don't realise they have to be in when it's delivered.
