smartshopper2011 wrote: »I booked 4 parcels to be collected and delivered going to Spain from Worldwide Parcel Services
DHL did not turn up to collect the parcels.
I emailed Worldwide Parcel Services and they emailed back to tell me my parcels were collected and were out for delivery in France that day, they also included the tracking from someone elses parcels.
They then emailed me the next day to tell me they were sorry for their error.my parcels were not collected and they would refund me(as of yet no refund tho)
As i told them i would be posting about their company on forums they also put this in their email to me
"We would However like to point out to you that we take libellous comments very seriously so any libellous comments posted on any forum will be passed to our solicitor"
I would not use this company again for the following reasons:
They dont seam to know who's order is who's,
They are slow at issueing refunds in my case.
They try to get you not to post the truth about a bad experiences with them on forums
They email you tracking of other customers parcels.

I can only go by what has happened to me in this case,
Belive me i know this company has been around for donkeys years, so they must do something right.
but with my first order what a XXck up,
i dont blame them at all for dhl not collecting as that is not their fault, the only thing that got to me was them saying my parcel was collected and emailing me someones tracking. the md has since emailed me to say siorry, but again in his email was stating that becouse i had only used them once it was unfair to post any comments about his company,
which is just wrong in my eyes, any one who would like to see these emails please pm me to prove i am right.0 -

I just tried to send a parcel with worldwide-parcelservice.co.uk to Germany and DHL were supposed to ship it. The price was around £25 cheaper than Royal Mail, but now I know why:
The driver refused to take the parcel because I accidentally told him that there was jewellery in there. Mind you, this is fairly cheap fashion jewellery but unfortunately made from silver, so this counts as precious metal and will not be carried.
Admittedly, on the MSE page there is a mention of prohibited items but the whole process is so counter-intuitive that there are many many pitfalls. My hubby had to stay at home for a whole day, all in vain.
So when you book your parcel, you have to list each and every item you are shipping - AND CHECK THE PROHIBITED ITEMS CASREFULLY. The list will start off with obvious stuff such as human remains, so I stopped reading but further down comes far less obvious stuff such as jewellery. I made the mistake of only putting "handbags" down as they make up the bulk of the parcel. I wish I had stuck to that when the driver asked me.
Although you get sent labels to attach to the parcel, do not seal or close the parcel, as the driver wants to inspect it (what an invasion into privacy - outrageous). So unlike with the royal mail where you just bring your parcel and they ship it, here everything will get scrutinised. This information is in a small print sentence within one of the 4 emails you are getting sent, so beware!
Although you choose an amount of potential compensation, they can apparently refuse to take the item if you put more value into it. There is no option to waive your right to the compensation and just have the effing parcel shipped.
These curiers offer their services at a discount for a reason. It is not a straightforward process like bringing a parcel to the post office, which is what I will do. The amount of time saved will be well worth the extra money.
Awful service from worldwide-parcelservice, as it would not be difficult to have a window pop open to make people properly aware of these basic requirements when you book the parcel.0 -

Just your comment of not sealing the box/s so the driver can inspect puts me off from ever considering to use that company. I'm not aware of any other carrier doing that.0 -

You will find it common practice on parcels going abroad on aircraft and it is not just DHL.0 -

This is very true I used to work with couriers and normal practice is that when booking is taken/made you have checked yourself that items are not prohibited thus agreeing to the companies terms/conditions.
Then labels are sent parcel has to be checked then sealed.
If it reached customs and items was inside proved to be prohibited you could i believe be fined and you would not get a refund from any carrier/courier service.
Obv this only applies for overseas bookings
so if you are sending something and you are not sure on regs etc check with the courier company first.0 -
I think the leaving it open for inspection is if it's travelling say DHL by Air, so they can make sure you're not sending anything that shouldn't go on a plane.
If it's going by Road with the DHL EuroPlus service then it can be sealed prior to collection.
It all depends upon the service you choose. Also a parcel going to Germany should need a detailed list of it's contents as it's not passing through Customs etc with it being in the EU.
(please correct me if I'm wrong)0 -
Hi Folks
We've had to remove several post due to speculation and comments based on what "sources" have said. It's very hard for us to substantiate this so please deal in clear, provable facts if you wish to comment. Thanks.

Just had a bad experience with Worldwide Parcel Services although DHL is to blame as well. Booked a delivery to France and had to wait all day for the collection. Ok, this is fine but the problem is that the DHL guys came in at 10:14am, went to the reception of another (nearby) building and asked for any collections from me. And when they were told that there is no such collection, they left (how about giving me a call?!?!). Why do I blame Worldwide Parcel Services? Because they failed to tell me about this incident, instead I had to email them and find out about this and then there was no reply to my emails till the very next day.
I really think they should improve their communication channels with the customer and their partners as this affects the quality of the service they provide.0
