  • having found this thread i have been trying to get a decent quote via websites for the last hour. the prices are rediculously high.

i am currently using pf, cannot get a cheaper rate as my numbers are not high enough. i was expecting much cheaper prices from resellers due to their volumes but so far my own contract is cheaper.

have i got the wrong idea? am i looking in the wrong places?

Hi, how heavy and large are you sending now? How many a day/week? How much are you currently paying?
  • i send out mon-thu, using 24hr service boxes upto 30kg, not sure of the size of box but its within the standard sizes acceptable. paying £9.64, due to increase 1st march by 27% due to vat and fuel.
  • Does anyone know if all companies require items to be boxed? My eBay seller has packaged the item "wrapped in bubble wrap and then put in two black bags and taped up" because he could not find a suitable box. Will this cause me problems when booking a courier?

Think of Heathrow baggage handling - I don't know what the item is, but would you be happy to send it through airport baggage/luggage in just the bubble wrap and tape - is that likely to be enough to prevent damage.

Best thing is to check with the carrier. I have known DPD refuse things that have been wrapped in bubble wrap. And UPS is getting really strict - even rejecting parcels that have string on them.

Basically, its the same for all of the networks, each driver has the right to refuse the item if THEY believe that its insufficiently packaged.

I sent parcel (upto 30kg) to Sweden.. Paid less than £30 insured.
The best rate i could find was with www.pharosparcel.com try it
Let me know if you find any cheapter rate.

    Hello

I need some advice please. I have to send some comics to my friend in Sweden. I have 2 options. To package it in a box or as a printed material in an envelope. The measurement is as follows :

    Packed in an envelope
    33cm x 30cm x 8.5cm = 3.3kgs

    Packed in a box
38cm x 8 cm x 26 cm = 4kgs (since there's space in the box, am thinking to bake her some brownies or cookies lol)

Just came back from the Post Office & they want £20.51 for it. Even though their website is quoting a cheaper rate
    Online I found these : Worldwide Parcel Services £17.48, Parcel Monkey £17.99 & Parcel 2 Ship £19.55.

Does anybody else know a better deal please? Or any other suggestion? We're not bothered by the speed of delivery, just the cost need to be lower. Your expertise is much appreciated. Thank you :)

    RM is cheapest I think.

For £4.99 I have had success with Collect+ and the service is tracked online if you need that. It is also possible to get a referral code which gives 10% off a first order if you know someone who uses the service.
