Just used Gwizzcouriers who ship with UPS. It's my first experience of using a courier and I have to say I'm bl**dy impressed. Parcel was collected from Staffordshire at 2.45pm yesterday and delivered to Lincoln today at 11am. Price was ok (about half what parcelforce wanted) so I'd definitely consider using them again.
  • Hi All

Can anyone help me with the strange costing system with Royal Mail?

I sold a CD on ebay to someone in Italy (in the UK it costs me 81p to send a similar item). To send it normal post to Italy was £2.75 (large letter). The PO worker then told me if it had been little thicker (ie. a package) it would have been cheaper at £1.63 - can anyone tell me where these costings are coming from?

It is strange that you would be charged more for a large letter than a small package.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

Your post office is confused, the 'letter' and 'large letter' gauges are only for use in the UK.

Assuming the CD is say under120g it will cost £1.42 as a small packet to Italy.

incidentally looking at the RM charts there is no service to Italy for either £2.75 or £1.63. I would check your own weight and go back and ask him/her what on earth they are doing.

I just had an eBay issue where to get a refund i had to return a plastic shed at my own expense........ generally the price ranged fron £29.99 to £48.00. I fell upon ParcelMonkey.com who got it collected as promised and tracked delivery via their subcontarcor City Link..... the cost to me just £9.15p.. Bargain and helped me get my refund by sending me a copy of the signatory who accepted the shed back in

Thanks for letting me know this, very annoying that they obviously do not know how to do the job. Knowing this information I'll be able to stand my ground in future.

Thanks but I have already sent it now, so can't go back with it now. I can't understand how they got it so wrong.

What does your receipt say as I have concerns that this hasn't been sent to Italy at all as they can't just make up prices.

Someone asked about Uk Mail. I've done one with them via interparcel when the sender could not print a label. Collected on time and delivered to me next day - so all good.
