    Hey,

I have just moved to Vietnam and need 3 things shipping over. I have been given a USD 1,500 allowance for this. Rather than the traditional "shipping" route I was thinking of using a courier. My 3 things are: 2 TVs and 1 flat pack set of drawers. I have entered all the info into Worldwide Parcel Services and recieved a quote of about GBP600. However, I see that TVs are "restricted" items and are therefore not subject to any compensation if lost or damaged. Of course I want full insurance, has anyone any ideas? I have the full allowance so want to get the best service possible.

    Thanks

Hi, I don't think any of the on-line re-sellers cover TVs etc. I think you're only option would be do get an insurance broker to cover the items and pay them the premium...

I have used parcel 2 go for some time now and on a whole I have very happy with them.. there was a 2 week delay in a pick up due to the bad weather - however I hear this effected most delivery comapanys..

But like I say they are on a whole very good.. However I will never use Home delivery network again! Ive had three items ive sent to verious parts of the UK that have arrived dameged - when I say damaged I mean the boxes look like they have been played football with.. damaging the items inside completely.. I have since used DHL and so far they have been very good.

    Myhermes
I sent a 14kg parcel before Xmas from south of england all the way to the Orkney Islands with myhermes. Normally i wouldnt use them as they are slower taking 4/5 days normally to deliver. However as many couriers were not collecting or going near Scotland and then taking forever to deliver anyway i thought i had nothing to lose. They did it in 9 days which given the conditions in Scotland I think is a very good result for Myhermes all the way to the Orkneys - the price was absolutely unbeatable.

That is one of the few plus points with myhermes, that they deliver to highlands and islands for a reasonable cost.

£9.21 inc vat and that included £1 extra for a signature. I booked it direct on the myhermes website. www.myhermes.co.uk.
For some reason they did not add the extra £1.95 for a remote area and Orkney sure is remote.
Next cheapest i could find was about £19 i think.
  • I am sending a parcel to Australia.Weight 25Kg. Contents Kitchen stuff and tea bags and chocolate. What form to I need to fill in? And is it different if I use RM or courier. Cost is not relevant this time, due to personal reasons.

  • I've recently trading on eBay. The majority of my stuff is less than 1kg so i usually send these items via Royal Mail, however, i send approx 5-10 items a day that weigh anywhere from 1 to 3kg.

After a bit of digging around it appears that MyHermes are the cheapest. They charge £4.10 for 1-2kg and £5.86 for 2-5kg.

Does anyone know of any prices cheaper than this, or have any any experience of using them in relation to eBay?
