    A tale of 3 parcels
    Parcel 1
Was to be sent by Royalmail small packet but i only got to the post office just before 4pm on 31st and the bouncer on the door was only letting people out as they closed at 4pm so that didnt go anywhere. Another trip for me Tuesday.

    Parcel 2
Was collected on time as it should have been on 30th with DPD on a NEXT day service. It arrived 7.26am at the delivery depot on 31st and then went nowhere and there is no bad weather here.

    Parcel 3
Was booked UPS Express Saver in morning of 31st with UPS, collected 31st by UPS and at 0.57 am on 1st Jan was in Germany.

Recently sold some goods on ebay, and found a service called Collect + Store (http://www.collectplus.co.uk/storefinder.php) where you take (up to 10kg) parcel to a local shop (1 fo 3-4000 in UK) and it is delivered to buyer's local shop (you select) via the HDNL network (I think they deliver for Littlewood's catalogue, etc) - COST £3.99!! which includes insurance value of £40.

    Worked for me

    chrisnorden

Just started using these guys to send stuff I sold on eBay the last couple of months and had good service.

If I've had queries emails seem to be replied to in a fast (within an hour or 2) and are professional and friendly.

I even received a free delivery code apologising for delays due to the weather, checked all my tracking and they may have slipped by a day or so, nothing major! No complaints from buyers either.

    Happy New Year

Used this service a long time ago and I am sure the tracking was better (same with Internat Signed for), so been fiddling ;)

RM tracking simply shows the date posted and 'passed to foreign postal service'

Wow!? No other suggestions given at all.

The packet was to Canada so I went to CanadaPost.ca

Using the same reference got me loads of useful info, yipee!

So if you folks have similar queries go the packet destination postal company website and give it a go.

Could you give us an idea of how much discount is obtainable, at what volumes please, as I am thinking of opening an account?

Click on: ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/rm/Business_Mail_Service_Tariff_Guide2010.pdf for a pdf of all prices & info. Be aware that I was told that you need to be sending 100 parcels a week to qualify for a PPI account.

The prices start from Page 6 and if you open an account you need to look under the 'Franking or Account' section for the relevant prices.

I would advise you call them as well as they can give you much clearer info.

Has anyone else used collectplus.co.uk ?? Their prices seem a little to good to be true. Is there no restriction on size of parcel? Thanks

Does anyone know a cheapish courier who will box/wrap the item and deliver it to me? Item is 15kg in weight and similar in size to a microwave but is quite delicate?

    Cheers

    Heres a quick update:
    Parcel 1
Went back to town to main post office and it is closed today - "systems failure" it said on the door. This isnt a tiny sub post office it is the main post office for a west sussex market town with a population of 55,000 people. Its the only one left standing as they have closed most of the local sub post offices so they can treat us how they like. Not the end of the world for me with my little packet but how about those who rely on the post office to get money from?
    Parcel 2
Delivered a day late by DPD - not bad.
    Parcel 3
Delivered by UPS in South Korea on the 4th - compare that with Royal Mail who cannot manage a UK service in that time.

A new parcel - i have a non urgent one with ParcelMonkey and City Link - so far so good - booked Monday night and collected on time today.

No couriers will wrap and box an item on your doorstep, thats your responsibility.
However if you have a DHL servicepoint near you, they provide free boxes for sending in, but you have to go to one of their stores, usually in Staples or WHSmith.

I have used Parcels Please after I read about them here.
they promised a Friday pick up so I expected my parcel to arrive in Holland in time for christmas.
needless to say they did not turn up not Friday not Saturday not Monday not Tuesday but on Wednesday..

the paperwork stated clearly that it had to be collected on the Friday but the collecting courier did not get the order till the Tuesday afterwards.!! how's that for efficiency ......blame the snow??? and on top of that he was in my area on that Friday and following Monday and Tuesday

so my family will have a belated christmas as well. :T

hurray my parcel has ARRIVED AT IT'S DESTINATION.
    one down, one to go

I must say that the communication from Parcels Please was excellent once i got hold of them.

another parcel was posted abroad with parcel2go it was collected the day it was when promised but then???
