Just a comment for anyone thinking of using HDNL (Home Delivery Network) - had a parcel dropped off by them today when I was out. It was left in the greenhouse (where it got damp - kids' Wii for Christmas!) and obviously the courier didn't get a signature. (Although, to be fair, I think if you use them, you have to specify/pay for a service which obtains a signature). Still, it didn't encourage me to send anything with them.

Is it box and packaged, or assembled and unwrapped?

I'm going to use Parcel Monkey but am confused by their A4 size shipping labels they ask you to print out.

Can I shrink these on the printer to put into A6 size document pockets and still have the barcode readable?

Yes - they print way to big.

11.30pm still no sign, phoned again and they couldn't get hold of her but left her a message to call them.

1.30pm still not here, phoned again, they still couldn't get hold of her so I told them to cancel it and give me a refund and I will book elsewhere -

May be able to throw a little light on what happened on Monday, I'm a Hermes courier. The gun didn't break the system went down, a very busy day and all couriers had to work with no information, no addresses and no details for their collections(just showed ie 5 collections nothing else).
What really should have happened is Hermes messaging each courier with collection details but that didn't happen.

The reason couriers don't answer their phones is they're either driving or away from their phone delivering and the reason they don't return Hermes calls is it costs a lot, 08 number, no tel allowance given. Your courier was probably bogged down yesterday playing catch up, I know I was.

Typical of Hermes head office blaming the courier.
Sorry I know this doesn't help you and none of this is really of use but thought I'd explain.

Just had a parcel delivered by MyHermes (well, about an hour ago). When was it collected from the sender: 29th October. So, a 4 working day turnaround. And it was delivered by (I think) an Interparcel (or ParcelNet?) agent, and as we've had them deliver stuff on Sunday evenings before I'm going to call it a 6-day delivery time.

We certainly won't be using them to send things, and if a seller says they're using them I'd probably bung them a few quid extra to use Parcel Force. At least we know it'll get here inside a reasonable timescale.

Incorrect DaveAshton it would only be a Hermes courier they were formerly Parcelnet, incorrect again they don't deliver Sundays and some don't deliver Saturdays.

I do hope you thanked the courier who delivered about an hour ago 7.28ish way above what they need to do.

Hermes offer a 3-5 day delivery service so about right for your delivery.

I've had parcels to collect on said day and it may take 3 days to collect from sender, I know we're all very busy people. That will show to you as sent on 29th Oct, highly unlikely the customer is going to come clean and tell you the exact day it was convenient for them to have the item collected.

If a seller told me they were sending by Parcelforce I'd definitely bung them a good few quid not to but thats from my experience.
Great to have factual information passed on but not from the (I finks)

I was going to be using my hermes but from the reports I have heard from people I think I will be looking elsewhere. Its a shame as the prices are good but if pick up is as random as people are reporting as well as delivery not really worth the hassle. Its not as if its just one unhappy customer I am hearing multiple problems from different people

So Sadie are you saying that Dave is Lying? If so why would he as he has no particular axe to grind about any courier he was just stating a personal experience

I'm certainly not saying DaveAshton is lying, checked my post and was relieved nothing suggested that.

No problem with any comments but a lot of incorrect information in DaveAshtons post, I was correcting and stating the way it is.

All delivery companies are being slated at the moment, it gives the post office a break.
