  • collect plus+ is a good service, but i had 1 of my parcels delayed for 3 weeks, i had the customer keep emailing me, all i could do is email back and say your parcel is at your local store, as they sent me and the customer an email to say the parcel was at the local store ready for collection, i was no wiser.

The i get an email thursday by somebody who works for collectplus to say the parcel wasn't delivered to the store, because the store would not accept it?????
strange, so i old them to try and delivery agains and i wanted a refund, i think now the refund as been made and the parcel as also gone to the store where it should have gone 3 weeks ago.
Just hope the customer get the parcel, i have emailed and said sorry, this is why i like using the door to door couriers, as you know the parcel will be delivered.

Hi - my daughter has to get some worksheets delivered to Oxford Uni by Tuesday 10th November - they'll be ready to collect from me (nr Chichester) on Mon 9th.. Royal Mail aren't guaranteeing their Special Delivery post, so I need to find another alternative.

On this occasion, I'm looking for top reliability, rather than cheapest cost. Who would you recommend?

    Thank you :)

you might already know, but just in case, the strikes have been called off until at least after Christmas.

We used to be able to rely on parcel2go to send out an email telling us the latest on the Royal Mail news but for some reason they appear to have missed this development - i wonder why;)
  • i bet parcel2go made some money out of the postal strike, so not so keen to let you know the strike are off.

can anybody tell me if they have used a company called parcelship dot co dot uk, sorry can't post links, seems to have prices from 7.60 for 30kgs, ideal for large parcels, which royal couldn't handle anyway

Thanks for the warning. I didn't know myHermes and Parcelnet were linked.
My experience of Parcelnet is very bad. Driver accused us of stealing a parcel for a different address that she said she had left on our door step, forced her way into our house looking for it, ranting and swearing. Our toddler was scared every time the door bell rang for weeks after that. She's well known in the area for delivering parcels by throwing them over gates. Online shop (a large national chain) was very understanding but I don't know if they reported it to Parcelnet. Obviously a local issue and most drivers are excellent but it makes me wonder what checks are performed in the recruiting process and what actions they take when they get reports of this sort of thing.
If we have to buy from a shop that uses Parcelnet, we now have them delivered to my work address.

That's terrible Steve, I don't blame you for not wanting to use P/Net Hermes, it would definitely be reported and I would think the courier would have all work terminated.
I think if your ordering from Hermes because the company doesn't have a customer collection depot, unless you work from home you can only really expect to get delivery if you order to your workplace.
In Wales most couriers are 8am to 6pm full time job although there's reports on here of late evenings and Sundays it's not the norm here.

You can think I'm incorrect if you like, but we regularly get things delivered on weekend evenings, whether you believe it or not. It was the same driver as usually brings our randomly-timed stuff, whether weekend or weekday.
Most of the "man in a little white van" couriers we have around here do the deliveries as a second job, so they can't drop stuff off at a "normal" time. We had a delivery at about 10ish at night last year (that got left with a neighbour though, we'd gone out and had a ParcelNet label through the letterbox when we got back).

I was delivering last year up to 10ish before Xmas to try to ensure all customers got their Xmas orders, so were many other companies.
I really don't know a courier in this neck of the woods that delivers evenings or Sundays but I won't dispute out of 7,600 nationwide there's some(fools)that might, they won't be thanked by the company or customers.
DaveAshtonJust had a parcel delivered by MyHermes (well, about an hour ago). When was it collected from the sender: 29th October. So, a 4 working day turnaround. And it was delivered by (I think) an Interparcel (or ParcelNet?) agent, and as we've had them deliver stuff on Sunday evenings before I'm going to call it a 6-day delivery time.

My main problem with your comments was you may have had a lucky break by having a Sunday delivery (my customers would think it was fab, I'd think it was fab if I could get it)but if you read the delivery terms you'd know it isn't offered so therefore you shouldn't call it a 6-day delivery time.
(as we've had them deliver stuff on Sunday evenings before I'm going to call it a 6-day delivery time.)

Obviously you can say anything you want to it's a forum, it is from your own experience.

Personally I always check what the company offers delivery wise to avoid misunderstandings, if I'm not going to be home I redirect, if I can't redirect then someone will be at home and that is really inconvenient, we all work but got to be done if you order to your home address. Simple.

Just to update (and also to back you up here Dave) - my little white van man turned up yesterday to collect the parcel that was booked for Monday - he had not even been told it had been cancelled - he is a lovely chap who has this as a secondary job and often delivers to me late at night (up to 9pm he has been known to turn up), he also comes over the weekends - when I told him what had happened with the gun etc, he said there was a problem in our area - the couriers had been asked to give a day up in order to keep their holiday entitlement - the woman who was supposed to collect Monday had given Mondays up, so she was never going to arrive on Monday broken gun or not - the area is split into 2, and on wednesday she contacted him and asked him to come and get this parcel as she had forgotten on wednesday! (never mind about tuesday!), hence why he arrived yesterday - he delivers my next, vertbaudet and la redoute and has no reason to lie to me, he knew the company was in the wrong and as he told me himself - don't bother trying to ring them they hardly ever answer the phone (as I found out this week).
Sorry, but I reiterate that I will never use them again,

Que? Couldn't fully understand your post, think your backing up DA with his deliveries at odd times and me for correct information about the gun and company.
I'm a "little white van girl" or brand new shiny car driver depends on parcel amounts, do customers feel better if they have a large branded van, I wonder?

Another lucky one reguarly getting deliveries out of normal courier delivery times.
There's been lots of talk from large companies, about evening deliveries costing the customer £9 -£12 for a 2 hour slot(if there not home they still have to pay)

I'd just like to say if your ordering online you need to be at home(working from home), or order to your workplace, friends or family, reliable neighbour, safe lockable shed(you leave padlock we click shut). I work full time and I have deliveries following above or sometimes much to my inconvenience someone has to stay home.
Even before I was a courier I never expected a courier to deliver to me if I wasn't home, if it ever happened and they had to re deliver, I was very apologetic.
Maybe we expect too much and take others for granted when they do more than they need to.

I've got a 24kg parcel to be picked up and dispatched to mainland UK (I am also in the UK). Which site would people recommend? I'm looking for the cheapest option. Obviously, I have got some quotes myself, but I hate to think I may have missed a site out or not heard of a super-cheap company!

I'm trying ParcelMonkey for the first time, collected today nice and early. I booked through TopCashBack, cashback £2, so I hope it tracks OK. If it arrives safely tomorrow then at £6.90 (inc VAT) - and hopefully £4.90 after cashback - I'll be another one abandoning RM for >2kg parcels sorry to say.

    .

Probably due to a (lack of) insurance issue.
I can't see on what Hermes pay per parcel how there o/d's can cover all fuel g.i.t and P.L. insurance and hire and reward courier insurance and wage and unfortunately wouldn't be surprised if a lot don't bother getting the correct insurances.
