Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

That's terrible Steve, I don't blame you for not wanting to use P/Net Hermes, it would definitely be reported and I would think the courier would have all work terminated.
I think if your ordering from Hermes because the company doesn't have a customer collection depot, unless you work from home you can only really expect to get delivery if you order to your workplace.
In Wales most couriers are 8am to 6pm full time job although there's reports on here of late evenings and Sundays it's not the norm here.
I was delivering last year up to 10ish before Xmas to try to ensure all customers got their Xmas orders, so were many other companies.
I really don't know a courier in this neck of the woods that delivers evenings or Sundays but I won't dispute out of 7,600 nationwide there's some(fools)that might, they won't be thanked by the company or customers.
My main problem with your comments was you may have had a lucky break by having a Sunday delivery (my customers would think it was fab, I'd think it was fab if I could get it)but if you read the delivery terms you'd know it isn't offered so therefore you shouldn't call it a 6-day delivery time.
(as we've had them deliver stuff on Sunday evenings before I'm going to call it a 6-day delivery time.)
Obviously you can say anything you want to it's a forum, it is from your own experience.
Personally I always check what the company offers delivery wise to avoid misunderstandings, if I'm not going to be home I redirect, if I can't redirect then someone will be at home and that is really inconvenient, we all work but got to be done if you order to your home address. Simple.
Que? Couldn't fully understand your post, think your backing up DA with his deliveries at odd times and me for correct information about the gun and company.
I'm a "little white van girl" or brand new shiny car driver depends on parcel amounts, do customers feel better if they have a large branded van, I wonder?
Another lucky one reguarly getting deliveries out of normal courier delivery times.
There's been lots of talk from large companies, about evening deliveries costing the customer £9 -£12 for a 2 hour slot(if there not home they still have to pay)
I'd just like to say if your ordering online you need to be at home(working from home), or order to your workplace, friends or family, reliable neighbour, safe lockable shed(you leave padlock we click shut). I work full time and I have deliveries following above or sometimes much to my inconvenience someone has to stay home.
Even before I was a courier I never expected a courier to deliver to me if I wasn't home, if it ever happened and they had to re deliver, I was very apologetic.
Maybe we expect too much and take others for granted when they do more than they need to.
Sorry, no offence intended with the little white van man, it's just thats what he is tbh lol - I think in general its a term used as against a Fed-ex,DHL etc van, but in my case it is what it is - and yes, I was backing up the odd/out of hrs delivery times that DA was stating.0 -
I need to send a Mac computer this week, weighs about 12kg, box 70cm X 70cm x 28cm, value is approx £800. Can anyone suggest a service to use?0

I'm trying ParcelMonkey for the first time, collected today nice and early. I booked through TopCashBack, cashback £2, so I hope it tracks OK. If it arrives safely tomorrow then at £6.90 (inc VAT) - and hopefully £4.90 after cashback - I'll be another one abandoning RM for >2kg parcels sorry to say.
Sorry to quote myselfbut just to say I was very happy with Parcel Monkey / FedEx (after hearing lots of bad things about FedEx!) - parcel arrived first thing this morning and delighted buyer left me glowing feedback - so I will be using them again. In fact, already have this morning.
Their prices are not great for overseas though. I sent 4kg to Netherlands today through Parcel Machine, £15.55 inc VAT - anyone know where I could've got it cheaper? Ta.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Thanks, yes I checked and they were slightly cheaper (£14.72 inc VAT). Never used them before - are they reliable? They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Am looking at using Sending Worldwide, but am slightly concerned about this part of their listing.
1 collection attempt, 1 delivery attempt, only.
Further collection/delivery attempts will result in additional charges.
Anyone had a customer who has not been in to receive a delivery? What sort of charges are we talking? I emailed them a few days ago to ask about extra insurance and still no response, so am feeling a bit wary about using them. Thoughts please?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

It's DHL services they provide and I've used them for ages now. Totally amazing customer support - they even feature on the front of this forum as recommended by MSE for cheapest above 10Kg for UK and cheapest to USA etc.0 -

Just had a look at the link and it's an eBay shop. That personally puts me right off, I'd rather see a real website.0
