Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

Hi Batfink,
I know if you contact sendingparcels.com directly they tailor a compensation quote especially for your needs. I needed cover for a laptop I was sending to the states and it worked out really well.
I don't know about any other options that offer cheap delivery but there are some other places that offer a more expensive service that aren't online.

Thanks for that - I had a look at their website and the international prices seem quite good. Unfortunately the parcel drop offs weren't good for me as I live in Scotland and there are only a few choices.
In the end I went with Fedex - they are one of the few couriers who will actually carry semi-precious stones. It's only a max. of £500 insurance but I'll self-insure the rest. In my experience, although Fedex are more expensive the service is very good and reliable AND you can get through to their call centre straight away, unlike some of the other companies (when I rang Interparcel I was in a queue of 20!).0 -

Glad you managed to find a way to send your parcel, Fedex is a good choice!0 -
Hi all. I need to send a 2.3kg parcel to northern Ireland. Royal mails cheapest price is £7.06. are there any other cheaper couriers out there?0

Hmmm, interesting. How many do you send a week, if you don't mind me asking? (Have a pallet load of 2kg+ stuff about to list myself!)
My advise is to try one you might be pleasantly suprised.
Well done parcelmonkey! Good bananas.0 -
One of the offshoot side effects of the Royal Mail strike is it has focussed everyones mind and alerted the ebay buyers to just how cheap parcels can be sent. I used to make the odd pound on carriage but i think those days have gone now with everyone thinking a parcel the size of a fridge can be sent UK wide for £5.99 or less.
Well done Royal Mail0 -
Have just sent a heavy large parcel 10 KG (195cm X 25Cm) with Parcel Monkey (They used FedX this time,) which I discovered from MSE website.
I left it on my doorstep for collection,as I cannot hang around all day either! with two address labels for driver as instructed. Hey Presto delivered the next day!! (They said 3-4 days owing to size and wieght)
for £7.39 a bargain. I am very pleased.0 -
I've been using Parcel2Go with few problems unril now. I used the Home Delivery Network rather than DHL this time as it was cheaper but 1 parcel is lost and the other 1 unable to deliver to a PO Box.
My questions are:
The maximum I can claim on the lost parcel is £50 but does that include the almost £8 delivery charge? I've not thought about it before but I now have to repack and send another parcel....will I have to pay for it?
PO Boxes...P2G have said that it's on their site that they don't deliver to PO Boxes....I can't actually see it....but is it the same for other delivery companies?
My agent says that all her parcels are sent there and she has had no problems before, she set it up as she is never at home to sign for parcels.
Anybody else know about PO Boxes and restrictions?0 -

Can't speak for all the courier companies but DHL, Fedex, UPS will not deliver to PO boxes.0
