Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

I sold a HP printer the other day, was going to send it via RM SP for 9.59, but managed to get it for 6.99 with DHL via PArcel2go. In the meantime I'd be getting quotes. One company (get2you) quoted £70!! I could hire a van and do it myself for less lol.
So DHL got the job and have collected it from me today.0 -
I've used a few couriers for the larger items I send, such as Parcel2Go, InterParcel, MyHermes etc and so far not had any issues.
My lighter items go via Royal Mail.
However, I need to send some lighter items and be delivered to the door (so Collect+ no good) and to be a decent speed service, as MyHermes takes 5 working days, that rules them out. Needs to be no messing about and as low cost as possible, whilst being reliable enough.
Dimensions: 225g, 22cm x 22cm x 5cm.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks.
I am now using a local service to do my smaller parcel deliveries although they do cover the whole of the UK. They have a price calculator on their website so you can always find out how much a parcel will cost before making any decisions. there website is ukparceldelivery .co.uk but I think they trade under UK Next Day.
Also try giving parcelcheap .com a go. Still can't beat parcel2 go for larger items though. If anyone knows of cheaper but reliable parcel delivery companys please let us know0 -
Does anyone know if myhermes will deliver to Northern Ireland, I have to send a parcel to Armagh and was going to use Parcels2go until I realised it's about £20 more than I have charged buyer. Thanks
There prices for NI, Scottish Highlands and the Islands (which is where I send from)are really good. Have just sent a couple of parcels through them impressed so far. I think they will become my main courier at the moment0 -
I always use PayPerParcel without a problem. There booking system links straight to DHL so you can see the progress of the booking rather than hoping it's been booked.
I heard very good things about PPP however my experience is not good.
on 12th August I sent off 2 parcels. long story short - 1 parcel lost by DHL for 6 days and even now still not showing on PPP tracking system. PPP initially offered me account credit and DHL via them offered 50% refund, however nothing has been done since then and now PPP not even replying to emails and phone calls.
Due to the inability of DHL or PPP to find my parcel I had to send a replacement item (via Parcelforce at an addittional £18) to my buyer and if it wasnt for his honesty I (and probably DHL & PPP) would not have known the original had turned up.
My feeling is - if they wont sort out a small compensation claim like mine, what chance a big claim.
still thats only my opinion. It could have worked out ok and I would have saved myself some pennies by using them. however ............0 -
Any suggestions on economic services with a drop-off facility. So far I have tried:
Post Office - queuing for ages
Sendingparcels - price is ok but my nearest "convenient" location is 7.8 miles away
collectplus - fine if your receiver is in the UK and trusts his local convenience store.
Any more?0 -
I was walking about in the nearest City today(Bradford) when I saw a shop called MBE-Mail boxes etc... with a site called mbebradford.co.uk
Anyway, their UK rates certainly weren't cheap, but when I was in the shop they didnt give me a straight rate, but they asked how much I was paying.I honestly said that I pay £7.09 and they said that I'd be better off using the other people if thats what it costs you-I dont think they came on as rude or anything, but I think they were saying we cant do a cheaper price
I did also query them about international rates, and they said "nobody can touch us"implying if you can get a quote, they claim that they can beat any quote internationally. It was then when I asked if they have a site, so I can know more info about the company or if they had an e-commerce site, if I could make a quote. They told me that if I called them, they would give a cheaper quote. Basically, these people work on the basis of you go find the cheapest quote, and they'll try and match it. parcel2go do something similar. Sometimes, I make "dummy bookings" and I receive emails like "Was everything all right? Was it cheaper elsewhere?" etc... Ive never emailed them, but I think they are working on the same basis
Basically, if you're sending internationally find your cheapest quote, and give mbe a bell0 -
The prices on the mbe website look high. The drop-off point for sendingparcels I looked at (swindon) turned out to be an mbe which may be a way around the high prices - it's too far for me though. Any other suggestions?0

You could always ring them up. I did say they werent cheapest, but cheapest internationally(well apparently) Have you tried myhermes?0
-
My hermes prices look good but I can't see a drop-off option. Do they do international?0
-
I dont think they do, no. If you go to places like parcel2go, payperparcel etc... Ive had DHL come and Ive not been in. Ive then gone to the nearest DHL depot to give the item to DHL myself and everything went through swimmingly0
